Ohio State vs. UCLA, @ United Center in Chicago, Saturday, Dec. 22 @ 3PM, CBS

Overall solid win. UCLA probably isn't a tournament team but going 3-1 against Cincy, Creighton, Syracuse and UCLA was a success along with two early B1G wins. MSU will probably bring us down to earth a bit
ucla is certainly not going to turn out to be a victory over an at-large team. beyond a meh win over notre dame, they have absolutely nothing worthwhile in the non-conference. and with the pac 12 being a legit 1-bid conference, it's not as though the bruins can build a résumé. the best we can hope for might be a win over a tier 2 team (neutral 51-100). it's a good thing we didn't play ucla at home.

Alford after the game: "... I have an audience of one" ...
He might as well be Mark Richt. Miami football coaches know that feeling.

Nice to know we have a couple guards who can make the passes that Duane and Woods made to Young this game that was seriously lacking on last years squad I also believe Luther can make those kind of passes as well...so Lidell Gaffney Young and Carton should be able to display their athleticism through back doors out of bounds plays and on the break next season...not to mention the other CJ will be eligible next season, could be one of the deepest and exciting teams we've had in a while, good game basketbucks!

Eh I'd say the PAC-12 is at least a 2 bid conference right now (Oregon and ASU).

At the end of the year, winning this game won't hurt.

last season, the pac 12 had five teams with a winning conference record that did not receive a berth. that includes 12-6 usc. of the three that did make it, two got in by the hair of their chinny chin chin as "first four" 11-seeds. and not a single team won a single game. the committee will remember that.

this year's pac 12 is even worse, which is somehow kind of impressive. coming into today, the highest ranked team (per the new ranking system) was #43 asu. a full 10 b1g teams were ranked higher than their highest. asu will move up after the win over kansas, but the rest of the conference have résumés full of complete shit. despite being 8-10 last year, asu got in because they had a bunch of really good wins in the non-conference. nobody other than asu has any quality non-conference wins this year, though. as such, moving up in the net rankings will be quite the challenge for pac 12 teams.

remind me to check the bracket matrix just before the start of conference play. i bet asu will be the only team in the field.

At the end of the year, winning this game won't hurt.
i certainly agree with that. i'd rather have a win than a loss.

Epitome of team basketball. No guy carrying the team and everyone contributing.

26 assists on 28 baskets!!

Very impressive

Unselfish teams are so much fun to watch. Quite frankly, as limited as this bunch is offensively, that sort of unselfishness will be the key to winning games in the BIG. But man we've got to find consistency knocking down the 3, otherwise teams in the BIG are going to take away Kaleb and just keep daring us to shoot from out there. I'm expecting to see a lot more Washington for that reason in the BIG.

On a side note, I just really love Woods. The dude is the epitome of a team player. He always makes that extra pass but also seems to know when to step up and score. Situational awareness sort of thing. He's just a mature man out there.

Actually he is compared to other players but as I mentioned I love him on this team as he does all the unheralded lunch pail type stuff. He has a high basketball IQ which makes up for some of the lack of athleticism and his desire makes him more valuable than guys who are more athletic but don’t bring the mentality that Young brings....

Young might not be very fluid out there but boy can jump.

And I was gonna say maybe you guys shouldn't spend so much time criticizing CJ but it seems like most times when y'all are really laying into him, he then has a stretch where he's great. So I guess keep criticizing, because Saturday's second-half CJ could lead this team to a lot of wins!

CJ has certainly improved his jumper from last year, and Young has shown great improvement from freshman to sophomore year. He seemed to jump pretty well, flushing the ball halfway to his elbows.....do like the way the upperclassmen and the freshmen blend together. The assist to score ratio is outstanding. It looked to me at least that the refs were letting the guys bang under the basket, bump hard backing into basket, and not calling body contact on shot block attempts. Loved the way that tOSU hung tough and cleaned the glass (K Wesson and Young), outrebounding (?) the much larger front line of UCLA. #13 seems to be to be a December All-American. This coach seems to be able to get these guys to play team ball, which is a great thing. Plus, loved Holtmman's mouth when he praised the reporters for their wisdom in not picking the Buckeyes higher....even the sideline reporter got the jibe. Go Bucks! On to the B10....
