Ohio State Wrestling (2015/2017/2018 B1G Champs, 2015 National Champs, 2019 National Runners-up)

Well, No. 1 Penn State lost to Arizona State yesterday in a dual, so definitely no reason to panic. And frankly, I think we are going to be a much better tournament team than a dual team anyways, we have some holes in the lineup. Even if Hayes bumps up to 157 to cover that gap, we have issues at 125 and 184 at the very least (to my shock honestly, I thought Heinselmann and Hoffman were going to be studs)...also some question marks at 133, 165 and 174, but I think we can improve over the year at those weights. Then we have title contenders at 141, 149, and 197. In any event, I think we are just fine, need to keep improving and we will be competitive in March.

Nice bounce-back from the wrestling Bucks. Cornell is down a few guys for Olympic redshirts, but they are still tough and it is a good win. And we didn't have Hayes, Kinner or Singletary. Really big win for Romero at 174 over #11 Womack, Kaleb is really starting to turn the corner and look like a contender. Smith had a great win getting the major over Dawkins as well.

Watching the recap video on the OSU FB page, the crowd really brought it for the Cornell dual. The Covelli Center is a seriously awesome move by the university, that place gets loud and the fans show up to pack it out. Can't even imagine how wild that place will be for the PSU and TTUN duals.

Kerkvliet announces what we all expected and is going to PSU

I'm 100% for Snyder doing what he needs to do for himself, just a bummer it's having an adverse affect on us

That decision completely screwed us, and will continue to for awhile. I get the decision like you said, but the consequences are rolling in and will keep rolling in.

Bucks had a great start to the CK Classic. Currently in second place only 1 point behind Nebraska. The reason that is positive is that Singletary had to take a medical forfeit after the first round, Kinner is out at 133, and Hayes is still not back at 157.

The reason we are in it though: Our backup at 133 Koontz is killing it and fought his way through ranked opponents to get to the semis...hell of a performance and nobody probably saw that coming. Pletcher is getting bonus and against quality opponents... teched a very good Mattin from TTUN to get to semis, that's huge. Sasso also curb stomped the #7 wrestler in the country 7-1 to get to semis and got bonus points in all other matches... could be a statement tournament if he can win this, and I think he can. Smith has handled himself nice at 165 and has a big matchup against former OSU commit Isiah White... really curious to see how he wrestles White. Romero damn near beat the #5 and went down 2-1, but he's wrestling well and has some tough opponents in consultations. 184 is apparently just going to be a loss this year, no idea why Hoffman is wrestling like this after a really great freshman year and positive reports. Really worried about Singletary at heavy though. We absolutely need him and he appears to be really banged up.

In any event, probably doing the best we can considering the circumstances.

WRESTLING: NO. 5 PADDY GALLAGHER IS OHIO STATE'S FIRST COMMITMENT IN THE CLASS OF 2021

Entire article: https://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio...-states-first-commitment-in-the-class-of-2021

Make no mistake about it, this is a HUGE HUGE HUGE commitment. Paddy is the 5th overall ranked wrestler in the 2021 and the #2 ranked wrestler at 160. One of the best wrestlers in the nation regardless of class or weight. Throw in that it strengthens our presence in a powerhouse at St. Ed's, and it gets even sweeter. Gallagher was a must get to stay home and Ryan got it done as usual. Welcome aboard Paddy! Now let's get Voinovich at 145 and hold down Ohio.

kid looks like an upperclassman already. Love the way Coach Ryan gets business done. Go Bucks! PS, daughter may enroll in tOSU grad school, so looking forward to some basketball and wrestling visits while am there. Haven't been to many of the new facilities (Schott being only one), so would like to see Covelli, and anything else a schlub like me can walk into and reminisce....Go Bucks!

Good call for Rocky bumping up, he was struggling with his weight. Great effort from our guys.

Also, Paddy Gallagher (how sweet of a name is that?) won the Ironman today, the toughest tournament in the country. Smoked several ranked opponents to get to the finals, then beat the #7 wrestler in the country to win it. To my knowledge, no other Buckeye commits were in the tourney.

- Side note: Wyoming Seminary won over Blair by a landslide, they are the new top dog in the country now. Graham took 25th...really sad how much that program fell off after Jeff Jordan left. Only had one kid place and it was 6th place. Need to get Bo or Mick back there to take over the team so we can start getting talent back into the program (which I hear is not outside the realm of possibilities).
