OJ - Tell Me It Ain't So!

OJ gave an interview to the LA Times, apparently prior to the arrest. There are some interesting quotes in here.

latimes

'I'm O.J. Simpson. How am I going to think that I'm going to rob somebody and get away with it?' he says in an interview with the L.A. Times

By Scott Glover, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
September 16, 2007

LAS VEGAS -- If O.J. Simpson is concerned about his most recent brush with the law, it was not apparent Saturday as the former NFL star lounged poolside at the Palms Hotel.

"I'm not walking around feeling sad or anything. I've done nothing wrong," Simpson told The Times. "I'm having a great time."

Besides, he quipped, "I thought what happens in Las Vegas stays in Las Vegas."

Cont'd ..

How could O.J. think he could commit a crime and get away with it? Hmmm ... I'm thinking ....

Why would a Wookiee, an eight-foot tall Wookiee, want to live on Endor, with a bunch of two-foot tall Ewoks? That does not make sense! But more important, you have to ask yourself: What does this have to do with this case? Nothing. Ladies and gentlemen, it has nothing to do with this case! It does not make sense! Look at me. I'm a lawyer defending a major record company, and I'm talkin' about Chewbacca! Does that make sense? Ladies and gentlemen, I am not making any sense! None of this makes sense! And so you have to remember, when you're in that jury room deliberatin' and conjugatin' the Emancipation Proclamation, [approaches and softens] does it make sense? No! Ladies and gentlemen of this supposed jury, it does not make sense! If Chewbacca lives on Endor, you must acquit! The defense rests.

Goldmans to seek Simpson memorabilia - Yahoo! News

LOS ANGELES - If the Goldman family has its way, it may soon own the sports memorabilia that O.J. Simpson is accused of committing armed robbery to recover for himself.

Since winning a multimillion-dollar settlement against Simpson in Ron Goldman's death, the family has waged a decade-long campaign to track down and claim Simpson's assets.

That effort hasn't stopped with the NFL star's arrest following a confrontation with memorabilia collectors in a Las Vegas hotel room. On Tuesday, the family plans to file request in Superior Court to obtain ownership of the sports memorabilia seized.

David Cook, an attorney for Goldman's father, Fred Goldman, said he believed Nevada authorities would turn over the items with a court order after Simpson's criminal case finishes. The items include Simpson's Hall of Fame certificate, a gold Rolex watch and the suit Simpson wore on the day he was acquitted, Cook said.

Maybe yes, maybe no - still doesn't give him the right to come in with a posse with guns at the ready, to forcibly take back that which might, or might not, be his.

if someone steals something from you, there is a far better chance of you finding said items and getting them back on your own than law enforcement doing so.

if this stuff is actually his i say more power to him. personally, if that is the case im going to be fairly pissy with law enforcement for picking on a guy who clearly succeded where they completely failed.

This is probably all it is -- a publicity stunt.

Highly doubtful it's publicity stunt by him. It's no longer a book he makes money off of, no matter how many it sells. Rights were permanently transferred to the Goldman family as part of a secondary settlement regarding Simpson's lack of, or ability to, pay off the original civil suit damages.

If you look at the cover, it is "If I Did It", by The Goldman Family and (Author), Pablo F. Fenjves

In 2006, HarperCollins announced the publication of a book in which O.J. Simpson told how he hypothetically would have committed the murders. In response to public outrage that Simpson stood to profit from these crimes, HarperCollins canceled the book. A Florida bankruptcy court awarded the rights to the Goldmans in August 2007 to partially satisfy the unpaid civil judgment, which has risen, with interest, to over $38 million.
The Goldman family views this book as his confession, and has worked hard to ensure that the public will read this book and learn the truth. This is the original manuscript approved by O.J. Simpson, with up to 14,000 words of key additional commentary.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Ron Goldman Foundation for Justice.
However, if the image of the cover is to be believed, the manuscript has been altered to fit the Goldman's views.

Prosecutors add kidnapping charge (Felony) to the prior 6 counts O. J. is up on.

By Dan Whitcomb
LAS VEGAS (Reuters) - O.J. Simpson, the former American football star acquitted of double murder in 1995, was charged on Tuesday with kidnapping, armed robbery and assault in a dispute over sports memorabilia at a Las Vegas hotel.
Simpson and his three co-defendants face a total of 11 charges that could send the 60-year-old athlete-turned-actor to prison for the rest of his life -- a fate he dodged in his sensational "trial of the century" by winning an acquittal.
The Las Vegas charges stem from what authorities say was the armed theft on Thursday by Simpson of his own sports memorabilia from a pair of collectors who were staying at the Palace Station Hotel and Casino.
Simpson was arrested on Sunday and has been held without bail pending a first court appearance on Wednesday that may also include his co-defendants. At that hearing, Simpson will be advised of the charges against him and his attorneys were expected to ask a judge to set bail.
Police have not accused Simpson of brandishing a firearm in the confrontation but he could still be convicted of participating in the charges involving a firearm if one or more of the men said to have been with him were threatening dealers with a gun.
The formal charges against Simpson and his co-defendants include: conspiracy to commit kidnapping, robbery and burglary; burglary while in possession of a deadly weapon; kidnapping with a deadly weapon; robbery with a deadly weapon; assault and coercion with a deadly weapon.
If this is publicity seeking, it is way over-sold.
(Like OCBuckWife I don't think that is it at all).
