OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

I just don't see how 252 people are better than him!

I also find it hard to believe that he should be rated that low. I will say that they don't show a single jump shot in the whole highlight. I get it's a highlight video but you'd think they'd show a few jumpers, maybe he can't shoot a lick? He is thick and has a good handle and passing ability for sure.

I like Goodwin and Hunter, as well. I also think 4 is a better number than 3 (though I'd still shoot for five if they were solid players). I want to say it looks likely we'll get those two, so I'm sure I'll be happy with the class at the end of the day. Cohill or Phinisee seem likely to come, as well, and I have no problem with either player.

Yeah, now with 2 more spots open, you almost have to find a way to add 5 players to the team between now and the 2018 class. One or two grad transfers may be the way to go for a way to add some class balance and bodies to the roster.

It will be interesting to see how many players he brings in for this class. It's July, and a lot of players start committing this month....he probably needs five, plus a transfer or grad transfer to boot. Are guys really going to be attracted by the opportunity for PT, or are they going to be repelled by the sorry state of the program?

Now I think he is going to have to find a way to add more than 3 players somehow, maybe not the traditional way. Time to get creative. But OSU is basically an average, run of the mill B1G team now, they are not totally devoid of talent to the point where players should be thinking "I'm never going to be on a winning team there."

All these articles I'm looking at about Indiana, Michigan, and Michigan State indicate to me that we are still perceived as a step below those programs despite our hire. I think this will be perfectly clear if Hunter goes with Beilein. Add in a Nance going to Northwestern and the general abilities of Painter at Purdue, and I think the days of Ohio State becoming a "sleeping giant" are returning upon us. Xavier is in the Big East, Juggaloes gonna do what Juggaloes do, etc...not a lot of sheen on Columbus for basketball anymore.

With all due respect to @Bill Lucas
regarding July being and open month for recruiting, the month of July is not entirely open according to the NCAA bylaws.

From July 6-31 it is a dead period except for the following:

July 12-16 Evaluation Period
July 19-23 Evaluation Period
July 26-30 Evaluation Period

August 1-September 8 Quiet Period

I do not know maybe I am interpreting "Evaluation Period" wrong but I guess I am assuming that during the rest of the month of July coaches are not allowed to contact recruits..
