OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

I know we are a day away from Selection Sunday, but I can't help thinking about next year. It is going to be really interesting this spring to see what moves CH makes to help fill holes in the roster. I think he should probably add a couple more players, definitely if they lose anyone unexpectedly. I feel good about the talent and skill they are adding with the 4 freshmen, and the prospect of Chris bringing in a couple reinforcements with some experience to fill holes temporarily. Also, they should be participating in a foreign trip this summer to help the team grow and get a little experience for the newbies.

I’ll admit my novice level of insight into the hoops program but to me, a guy like CH who is pretty young and has done incredible in his first year gets a total pass for several years as he builds the kind of program he wants.

Yeah it’s been fun being competing this year and yeah I want to do it again next year. But to me, I am really hoping he gets his entire philosophy and culture in place and he’s here for a long and successful career. Didn’t Coach K have a few ugly years in the beginning of his career? Shoot, CH has already started off hot. I just want to see a really solid foundation in place. I mean he didn’t really even have a full roster this year right? Dude seems legit to me. I know everyone expects to win right away these days but I’m taking the patience route. I want to be good EVERY year and great some years. That takes time.

Gotta disagree somewhat with the notion that they are in rebuilding mode after this year. A couple of the players Thad recruited are going to be solid starters next year. Chris has a nice group of freshmen coming in, a couple of them are solid starter material. One or two good players added this spring, one being a grad transfer, and they are in good shape talent-wise, experience-wise, culture-wise, and NCAA-wise. You don't have to have a rebuilding phase where they dip down to a mediocre B1G team now because this past year was the one where Chris was in the hardest spot roster-wise that he should be in for a while anyway. It only takes 5 strong players to have a good college basketball team. Chris has been adept at finding quality college basketball players in the spring, so I am confident that they will add at least one and quite possibly two rotation players for next year in the coming months.

Shoots 38% from 3 as a freshman. Seems to be an upgrade from Musa and Andre as of right now
i'm just looking at what ho1tmann is offering for 2019, which is more or less what parker stewart would be. the 2019 class is pretty much (1) a point guard, (2) an athletic, strong, ball-handling, multi-positional defender, 6'6"ish forward, and (3) a pf/c. a guy like armaan franklin is comparable, but he's still more of a ball-handler than stewart.

might stewart be an upgrade from musa and andre? sure. musa and andre will be a junior and senior, respectively, though. we'll also have muhammad, washington, and ahrens as sophomore. i don't see stewart bringing something much different than what those three project to bring. on top of that, look at what we'd graduate when muhammad, washington, ahrens, and a prospective stewart would graduate: 4 shooting guards around 6'4". that's a glut at one specific position in one class.

i wouldn't be surprised to see ho1mann kick the tires, though. there is a history.
