My mother died almost four years ago from breast cancer, at the age of 63. She had been diagnosed a couple of years earlier, but it wasn't until the last two months of her life that she let on about how bad it had become. She kept me somewhat in the dark because she knew I would be a basket case (and I was). But seeing her be so strong made me also realize that I had to be strong for her, no matter how scared I was. I tried to keep myself informed about her condition and treatments, and when we knew the end was near, I just tried to be as supportive for her and my sister (who stayed with her) as I could be.

Honestly, I still get upset often when I think about her and I miss her every day. Some days are better than others, though. And when you have a wonderful support system for yourself, that gives you the strength to be there for your parent at all stages of their illness. We all expect our parents to be there for a long time, but realistically, there's never a guarantee. Cherish the time you have together now. :)

Edit: It really disgusts me that people are taking a heartfelt post made by a community member and turning the entire thread into trash. If you want to bash each other, please make a new thread elsewhere so as not to detract from PB's initial concerns, no matter what you may think of them.

Well, I want to thank everyone for their support, but my Dad is a nursing home now....we had no other opinion but to send him there...he isn't happy, but he is still happy that he can see his grandkids...:tongue2: I want to thank everyone on BP again for your support :osu:

trust me, tibs is an $&%&, but when I get an ingrown toenail it hurts worst....he affects me as much as global warming......:biggrin:
