PF/C Kosta Koufos (CSKA Moscow)

His skill set is so rare for a center, let alone a 7'+ one. He's gonna be impossible to guard once he gets his timing down and gets used to the college game. Watch out, Big Ten!

I can't wait for the season to start.

Tell me about it.

Football will always be my first sports passion, but there is something about attending a college basketball game that I just love. Also maybe its just that I take pride in the fact that I at least know something about our basketball team and realize how good we can be this year, while many students on campus are completely clueless.

Either way, I can not wait for the season to start.

KK will be unlike any big man Ohio State has ever had in the program.......he will shoot outside the arc and also back down his man......I am very excited to see how Matta creates mismatches in our favor on the offensive end....

I don't think we will see as much post scoring this year as we did last.

Do not forget about Hunter......he is vastly improved.

The post scoring will be more than last year in my opinion, it will just be a group of players instead of Oden only.......I think this team is vastly underrated in my opinion and KK is the reason.....every coach in the Big Ten will have nightmares dealing with his ability to play high and low, plus is ability to pass the ball. :wink2:

His ball handling skills for a big man is unreal at this point in his development, but he needs to work on his footwork in the post.......he is a little lazy at times......

Well with his dedication to the gym, he will get all of that worked out...

I remember seeing Dallas kind of push him around last year, when they played, which is not all that bad considering how big Dallas is, but hopefully with KK's added strength over the summer, he wont get pushed around by some of the big guys we play...

I"ve been saying all along that I'm as excited about Koufos' offense as I was about Oden's defense last year. Saturday's open scrimmage reaffirmed that notion for me.

I still worry about KK's defensive footwork and shot blocking instincts. There is no shame in getting pushed around a bit by Dallas Lauderdale. He can move mountains, I just want to see Koufos make some progress at the defensive end of the floor this year so we don't have to worry about getting burned.

COLUMBUS All Kosta Koufos wants to do is enjoy college life and relish the opportunity to play basketball at Ohio State. What happens in the future is talk for another day.

Some have chosen to look ahead. Basketball Web site DraftExpress.com is projecting Koufos to be the fourth pick in June's NBA Draft.

Whoa, for a second.

"The NBA Draft has never been on my mind," the 7-footer from GlenOak High School said. "I've never played a college game in my life, except for two exhibition games. I just want to take it year in and year out and see how I develop."

For Koufos, it starts for real at Ohio State on Monday.

The Buckeyes will tip off the season against Wisconsin-Green Bay in the Preseason NIT at Value City Arena. Koufos will start along with fellow freshman Jon Diebler -the player he finished runner-up to in Ohio's Mr. Basketball voting -and returnees Jamar Butler, David Lighty and Othello Hunter.

"I've been waiting all my life for this experience," Koufos said. "God has blessed me with wonderful teammates and wonderful coaches."

I wonder why Thad tends to rest him more than the other starters except maybe for Diebler. I don't know if he is not quite in shape yet or maybe it's because the fact that he has played so much basketball in the past five months.

It was sort of funny when the announcers said during the Columbia game that Thad was trying to "hide him" from professional scouts and other teams. Like they don't know about Kosta already.
