The Cubs futility versus the Pirates is even worse than I thought. Pittsburgh is 14-6 their last 20 meetings, 7-2 their last 9 games in Wrigley.

Even Meek tried like hell to give another one away but Hurdle yanked him just in time.

Bucs 4
Cards 3

The Pirates are 3-1 on the road, so far. They won 17 road games all last season.

My son and I caught the last 3 innings of the last game in the Cub Series on "Root". Bucs didn't give up. They may be turning the corner.

After 18 years, I'm not ready to go that far, yet.

Cris Carpenter came into today with an 11-1 record versus the Pirates. He's now 11-2.

The Bucs started the season winning two road series in the division. They hadn't won consecutive road series anywhere since 2007. I'm a long way from buying into them but it's a good way to start a season.

Home opener today and the Bucs I know and love showed up. :pirate2:

Two unearned runs given away in the first inning then the offense gets shut down by a guy with 76 career innings and an ERA over 6.00.

Rockies 7
Pirates 1
