Pittsburgh Penguins (Official Thread)

Holy shit Jarry with a behind the back pad save late in the 3rd. 45 fucking saves tonight and Marchand little French ass hits him in the face with his stick for a Major and gets walked off the ice. Can't wait for the rematch coming up in April. Pens win 4-2 and break the bad streak. Now Let's GO PENS!

Rickard Rakell is a Penguin. The Pens traded a 2nd round pick, a currently unnamed prospect, Zach Aston-Reese and Dominik Simon. Those assets are listed in order of value... losing ZAR and Simon = addition by subtraction.

Rakell is awesome. I'm excited to see him play with Malkin (I assume). Should be a perfect fit.

Also a conditional 7th for Nathan Bealieu. He sucks. Depth.

First shift was with Carter tonight and he had a brilliant pass to Kapanen but he couldnt control it for the shot. Should have been the first goal.

LOL the 2nd period onslaught is incredible to watch. What Rakell does is essentially give the Penguins 3 first level lines and the waves coming at the opponent are fast and furious. The penalty is going to be disgustingly good also and I'm hoping they rival the units of past glory.

If they stay healthy, they look like a contender. Crosby is playing like he’s 23, Guentzel and Rust have continued to get better and are now just awesome. Malkin is losing speed, but still able to control the game.

Really excited about what this team could do. I have been cool on them the last couple seasons. Not this one.

Biggest issue is that they’re still the third best team in their conference at best. Tampa and Florida are FUCKING RIDICULOUS after the deadline.

Pens are not good at the shootouts. Should have handled Buffalo in that OT but just couldnt get past the handle into the net.

The next week with those games against the Rangers are going to be rough

Wow, destroyed the Red Wings tonight, 11-2! 9 different guys scored a goal and Geno nails the hat trick. Rakell starting to make his presence known and nets one for himself tonight as well.

Rangers games upcoming let's see if they can carry over the hot offense.

Oldest team in the NHL, who haven't won a playoff series since 2018 and missed the playoffs last year, make a big move to add another old player. That's the plan, see if they can squeeze one more Cup run out of aging stars five years removed from their last playoff series win.

They're just kicking the inevitable rebuild can down the road another year. They might make the playoffs, or not, but even if they do the old boys aren't going to suddenly turn back the clock to 2017. It's just a desperate plan to keep local fans buying tickets to see names.

Shocker, they lost the opener at home 4-2 to Chicago, the same team who eliminated them last season.
