Playing a halfling program like YSU will do nothing to truly show the Buckeyes where they really stand in their preparation for the BigTen schedule.

Do we really want to be like KSU and VT(and others), and schedule a bunch of bums for OOC games? Then when the big games finally arrive, we fold like a busted up tent because we were untested?

Lets just trust the coaches:wink2:

And playing Akron and Kent State does?

The two YSU games are the only I-AA games Ohio State will play, period, so we won't be like Kansas State, Virgina Tech, South Carolina, etc. And the only reason YSU was scheduled was because of the 12th game added and the short notice to get someone for the 2007 game. Scheduling YSU allowed us to quickly fill a scheduling hole while giving another in-state school a big payday and a chance to play the Big Boys. Plus it's Tressel's old school...

Oh oh...almost time for you to go watch Wapner.

1) You might want to look at our future schedules
2) Are you implying KSU & VT are good?
I'm not suggesting a steady diet of national powerhouse OOC opponents, but worthy 'middle of the pack' BCS conference opponents would do much more to prepare the team for the meat of the TEN schedule.
Why are those mid-pack teams worthy, when using B-D's elitist measurements? (TM)

Is this crusade of yours rooted in the championship game?

This isn't NCAA Football 08.Because here in reality, you can't schedule 4 OOC games against top-10 teams.

I never said that:shake:

What I am saying: Keep the Pee Wee teams that do nothing to test the buckeye talent off the schedule.

Beating 'mediocre' BCS conference teams will do much more to test the progress of our beloved buckeyes. Whipping sub-midmajor halflings provides no test.

At the very least, scheduling more of the Okie states, Mizzous, Pitts should be in order, and they will provide the 'tuneup' test necessary to develop the teams developmental progress.

This isnt even the right thread, not even the tOSU v YSU is suitable for such crap. These are GAME DISCUSSION THREADS. I dont see SCHEDULE DEBATE anywhere in the titles.

No, and that's my point. Before other major CFB programs starting chumming for small school OOC opponents, those schools paved the way, and they'd always steamroll though patsies and up the rankings (untested) until they received a brutal wakeup call when the meat of their schedule arrived.... and they got their asses beat back to reality.

It hurts me to see OSU finally joining the chumming ranks.

If we schedule YSU and Grambling and App State that we will turn into lower tier programs?

No...what that makes the Bucks is an untested program who will be less prepared when of the brutal TEN schedule arrives.

IMO...that's a very bad thing.

The point of the OOC schedule is to be tested, prepare for adversity/tough situations, and playing cupcake Pee Wee teams does nothing to prepare the team for the tough road ahead.

No it's not... you don't seem to have one, at least not a consistent one.

On one hand you continue your BP-wide crusade of complaining about scheduling patsies, which includes mid-majors.

Now you're claiming scheduling patsies lead to mediocrity. Too bad you already described MAC teams as patsies, thus crushing your own argument, considering those mac teams haven't dragged us down yet. :roll2:

You did catch that we go on the road to play Washington right? Let's stop debating irrelevant hypotheticals. Over the next few years we get to see USC Miami (FL) and several other high profile programs here and on the road. Only this year and in one of those future years do we play YSU.

The rationale behind scheduling the penguins has been clearly explained, 12th game, quick fill with a quality program from the next division down. Pumps dollars into a fellow state university. Get of your high horse and relax BD.

That's not a sentence  Does Washington begin this brutal TEN schedule? 'B10' is the same amount of keystrokes, and makes a lot more sense.

Show us some hard facts to back up your complaints... not flippant comparisons to vastly inferior programs like VT & KSU.

Last year, we played against two #2 teams with incredible hype last year... yet our boys showed up overconfident and not ready to play Florida's 2nd sring.

In contrast, 4 years earlier, we didn't play in any big game (all season) that came close to those two... yet the team was incredibly focused and prepared for an unbeatable opponent Named Miami.

Says who?

All tough games also leads to repeats of 2004, where the backups get very little experience (in 02/03) before becoming starters.

How can you people be happy about watching our beloved buckeyes scheduling Pee Wee teams to prepare themselves for the BigTen schedule?

How does beating midget programs prepare our team for big games?

IMO..... not even the MidMajors are worthy, let alone....tiny community schools

Do you have any other terms in your Rain Man vocabulary? Oh yeah, if "not even the MidMajors are worthy", then who the fuck should we play? Lastly, YSU is hardly a "tiny community school".

I will go along with the people saying that YSU could play with Akron, Kent State, BGSU etc.... but I think saying they are just as good as Indiana and/or NW is stretching it a little.
The '91-'94 YSU teams could beat Indiana or Northwestern...
