Sevilla accept offer for Navas - ESPN FC

Sevilla winger Jesus Navas is on the brink of joining Manchester City, after his Spanish club confirmed they had agreed a deal with the Premier League side for their 27-year-old Spanish international that could be worth as much as ?24 million.

Never thought I'd see him leave Sevilla, let alone Spain, considering he suffers from severe homesickness, which has plagued his international career in the past. A true winger, he should be a great get for City as long as he gets consistent time. I have concerns about his small stature in the English game, but we've seen other Spaniards thrive after the initial transition from Spain.

Trying to stay reserved about this. The club hasn't announced anything and I won't allow myself to believe it until he's at the training facility with AVB next to him on a step ladder. The price being reported would be a club record outlay though. He looked damn impressive at the Confederations Cup though. A true box-to-box midfielder if he can bring that form with him.

There are rumors of Villa (somewhat believable) and Soldado (much less believable) being bid on as well.

I was just trying to spark some debate in here as there hadn't been much since I left a few weeks ago. I agree with your attitude about not believing it until you actually see it.

Villa would be an absolute steal, even though he is 31 now. He got the wrong end of the stick last season at Barca, which made no sense to me given how nobody on the team not wearing the number 10 could score worth a shit. He consistently delivered for them when he was given time, but he was on the bench quite a bit for some reason that still escapes me. I think he would be a great addition to Spurs, but only for the right price because you don't want to overspend on someone who just broke his leg 18 months ago & is already 31, even if he still is a tremendous goal scorer.

When Villa did play for them he was chiefly used on left if I recall correctly. I think he is better suited to playing in the middle. He looked very useful in his limited minutes in the Cup final for Spain against Brazil, presenting what little threat his side were able to muster.

Also, you gotta laugh at the shameless tapping up of Gareth Bale. Never say never, but I would be shocked if Spurs accepted a bid for him this summer. I saw a translation of an article from Marca (they tap him up every damn day) saying that Bale would make a subtle, personal appeal to Chairman Daniel Levy in an attempt to "tug on his heart strings" and approve a move to Real Madrid. I nearly laughed til I peed at the idea that Daniel Levy has a heart.

Mostly on the left when he immediately arrived in '10, but he found his way more & more into the middle this season as Messi drifted further back to get the ball. He used to be strictly on the left, but he moved inside much more this season & thus scored quite a bit when he actually got minutes, so his goals/minute ratio had to be decent this season.

Marca is an absolute joke of a newspaper. Take pretty much nothing it writes as serious as it's just a tabloid paper for Real Madrid. That quote about Daniel Levy is too funny. Nobody in there right mind should believe such a ludicrous statement. I really hope they can keep Bale, as he's become such an incredible player & absolutely vital to any success Spurs will have. He's an absolute joy to watch play & it would be a real shame to see him leave England.
