Did you notice anything about his reads? If not, go back and watch again, and look at Jones' head this time. What you'll see is Jones making one read on just about every single pass. This is what I meant when I said that Meyer and Herman simplified things a bit for him.

I have no expertise on quarterbacking, but I though I did see more checkdowns from Cardale.

Jones never beat out Barrett. Barrett started off behind him by virtue of his HS knee injury and subsequent redshirt. Barrett closed the gap and overtook him.

The offense never ran smoothly? I won't begrudge your QB preference, but that's just plain wrong.

I would argue that by JT not "overtaking" him that Jones won the #2 job last spring. Really just semantics though.

Agreed. I think he could be drafted early day 3 (4th/5th round), but if he comes back and doesn't play he'd probably be a 6th/7th round guy. Still drafted IMO, but stock would take a hit.
I don't think that's a bad thing. He's coming back and if he starts he will be rewarded in the draft. If he doesn't he will be somewhere in the 3-7 range. I've seen 3rd rounders fail as much as 7th rounders. Only really guaranteed a spot on the team if you're a 1 or 2 rounder. 3-7 you still have to make the cut by fall so there really isn't a downside. He is probably more likely to make the cut as a 7th rounder next year with more practice time than a 3rd rounder this year.

I heard a guy on the radio this morning mention that yesterday's conference made CJ into a brand. Nickname-check, attention-all positive, and endorsements will soon follow. Nike can't wait to do a campaign on Cardale, especially with the LBJ proximity.
