QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

There's a point where you can read Troy's lips & he says "I'm not perfect!"

Doesn't need to be. But he needs to understand that three fumbles, an awful pick and a safety are not acceptable in a game with division winning/losing consequences.

Alex Smith wasn't going to win the game either, so I don't disagree with his likely point, but still.

Troy remained in the game after the confrontation...so that was interesting.

The shouting match happened in the 3rd quarter and he got pulled in the 4th, iirc.

Alex Smith came on for a benched Troy Smith in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss to the Rams and completed 10-of-15 passes for 120 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions.
It was a strange day all around for the Niners. Troy Smith got into a screaming match with coach Mike Singletary on the sideline in the third quarter, but wasn't pulled until midway through the fourth quarter with the team down 22-14. Alex Smith moved the team well for a field goal, but then couldn't get away from a sack and fumbled away a potential game-tying drive. It's obvious that neither quarterback -- or Singletary -- are the answer here. Dec. 26 - 6:03 pm et

And that'll do...

Following the 49ers' loss to the St. Louis Rams (an ugly 25-17 elimination party), Jed York didn't exactly endorse his head coach, and it seemed likely that Mike Singletary would be fired.

It appears to have actually happened -- Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area reports that York informed him Singletary is out as 49ers head coach and Jim Tomsula, the defensive line coach, will take over in the interim. According to Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network is reporting that Singletary "refused to resign," which either means he's too stubborn to give up on a lost season or he doesn't want to lose out on whatever they owe him.

What is it with that kid???? I say "You're fired!"

He tells me, "No, You're fired!"

I say, "What the Hell did you say!!???"

He says, "Fired bitch say what...???"

I said, "Dammit, what did you say??!!??!!

He then points to the 49er logo on his jersey and starts singing, "one of these things is not like the other...." Cat is crazy!

The line is fine, the coaching is awful. With a good staff around them this team would not be a joke. They're plenty talented. They just have no discipline and their staff lost credibility a long time ago. Their problems are all mental (penalties and mental/positioning errors - not talent).

A coaching change was due such a long time ago it's not even funny. They could use a Gruden-type. Someone who knows what to do with talent.

You have got to be kidding me. Troy Smith has to have one of the quickest releases because of the lines lack of blocking. There were numerous false start penalties and sacks given up. The line almost called back his 60 yard TD pass due to what should have been a false start. He fumbled two key snaps because of his center (a key cog of the line).

Like they say "it all starts up front." Yes the coaching is terrible, but the line sucks just as much.

I just wonder how good the SF 49ers QB coaching was:

Michael previously served as the tight ends coach at the University of Tennessee during the 2008 season, after spending the previous two years as a member of the New York Jets coaching staff. During his first year with the Jets in 2006, Michael served as the team?s quality control coach, which included working with the quarterbacks alongside offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer. The following season, he was assigned to tight ends coach for the team. Prior to joining the Jets, Michael served as an offensive quality control coach and video assistant for the Oakland Raiders in 2005.
