Yes it was and once again Pitt held up the running side of the team and more.
He got his 100 yards and TD once again. I absolutely love the way he runs.

Good Game!

The entire team looked great, but I would like to take this time to give a special shout-out to Pittman. He shined the most. He was very patient, he didn't jsut go full steam ahead. He waited for his blocks, he waited for the pulling guard, the FB, and the WR to get a helmet on someone. He is getting better every game.

Looks like the streak is over. Pittman had 2 carries that went for negative yardage in Saturday's game (-2 + -3 = -5 yards). Still, keep up the tremendous work Pitt.

Yes, I was going to post that. Both of Pitt's two unique streaks ended on the same drive in the first half.

Forgive me for actually employing Mark May as a credible source /*looks for bolt of lightning*/ but the former Hog does know a few things about line play.

He wrote a stat for ESPN the Magazine this week where he pointed out that "Da U," long noted for producing Top O-Line talent, is staring at -444 yards on negative plays this season. May pointed out that Miami's O-Line has gotten worse in each successive year since Butch Davis left, and as an O-Lineman, he's always looked at combined yardage in negative plays (sacks and rushing losses) as a statistical measure for how good or bad an O-Line is.

I went through all five of OSU's box score play-by-plays and searched for the term "loss."

OSU has given up a grand total of -70 yards on all negative plays combined this season, which includes swing passes to WRs (which May does not even count) and a 19 yard sack taken by our 4th string QB in garbage time against UC.

Pitt is enjoying a truly stout offensive line. After the backups performance against Texas, we might even have to consider that two stout offensive lines.

It makes me wonder where all those "Fire Jim Bollman" people went? :wink2:

Not to get off topic too much, but I think those talks ended when Lydell left.:tongue2:

As for the stiffarm, Pitt has one of the nastiest stiffarms I have seen, and the kids legs never stop churning. I think they are probably still going when he sleeps.

I think his nick should be "over, around , and through" but its too long and not "catchy" and "oat" sux so his HS name of Beast is the best i've heard so far.

By the way Musberger hasn't given him a name yet so Pitt hasn't "arrived" officially. Now that really sux!.

Mark May is wrong. i went through and charted all the negative plays by the Canes, and with penalties included, they've lost 241 yards. not good by any stretch, but not anywhere NEAR the abomination that his numbers make it out to be... of course, the raw numbers don't tell the story of INTs and such that are the result of pressure allowed by bad O-line play... but May was off... by 200 yards. his numbers were inflated by 83%... that's some pretty irresponsible journalism.

The only thing that worries me a little bit about Pittman was the tendency to run left. The announcers even started commenting about it later in the game. The left side of our offensive line is mammoth and smothering defenses this season. I just worry about a defensive coordinator sending the run blitzes to our left and try to take away that cutback on Pitt. He's always been a very strong runner and his speed is deceptive. Maybe he's only cutting back left so often because its always open but its the only thing I can pick on right now. He doesn't fumble and has excellent vision. He'll go down as one of the best Buckeye backs of all time.

he broke that tendency by going right a bunch in the second half...
