Rumors about Norm Chow

A Domino Theory

OK - there is no certainty in this but what about the following scenario:

USC ends up winning in the BCS title game at years end. PC & USC has his crystal trophy.

The 49'ers drop DE like a hot potato at season's end (possibly along with a change in team ownership).

Does Pete Carrol jump ship to go back to the city of his birth (I think - certainly he grew up there)? Taking on the 49'ers HC post?

Then doesn't Norm Chow step up and become the USC HC?

Yeah Chow did Interview for the Arizone Head coaching job.... Also a thing to note is this.. When Mark Sanchez (same school as our two recruits) went in for a visit he told mark (in marks words) that he'd love to have him at USC but also said he wasn't sure if he'd be there long. So I don't think Chow will stay, but crazier things would happen. I for one am kinda worried, because we play Washington in a couple years again.

i don't see PC getting asked back to the NFL unless the owner is some sort of jackass like al davis. PC had his shot in the NFL and it didn't work. college ball on the other hand seems to be agreeing with petey in a big way, why would he even think of going back to the league.

I seem to remember reading on collegefootballtalk.com a while back that many "insiders" felt like PC yearned to return to the NFL some day. not soon enough, if you ask me...

Totally agree...I have no idea why Hawaii didn't even contact him.

you'd know better than I would Mili....is his personality "that" bad. Every time his name comes up for a job, it's always prefaced his personality may not be a fit. Are universities concerned he wouldn't be able to recruit as a head coach maybe?

As I have heard from local talk radio, the guy is an offensive "genius" but he doesn't exactly mix well with people, he can recruit, but it's not his strong point and he's never been a head coach. I am sure being fired at the NFL level doesn't exactly help his confidence, but odds are he will be a head coach somewhere in the next 4 years.

Still can't believe he was fired. The best hire the Titans have had in a long time.

I remember he was very upset about not getting the consideration for the Stanfurd job. He should have been upset, he was the hottest offensive coordinator on the market and he was beat out by Harbaugh?

My point is that he wants the head coaching position, but I feel like there's a glass ceiling situation happening. I feel like he feels the same way.

There is alot of sentiment that he is not a very likable and personable guy which doesn't fit for a head coach. This is one reason alot of UCLA fans didn't want to be the head coach and why some athletic directors won't pull the trigger.

He is a great offensive coordinator....maybe the best in the country. He will do alot for the bruins. At leasts it makes the little sister down the street viable again

Chow believes the Hawaii job is beneath him.

It would be hard to disagree with him if that's true. Based on Spiel's report on their facilities and other recent events, it seems that his talents are better applied at a place that more serious about their program, or at least one with more money. Speaking of which, based on recent events, it's hard to imagine Hawaii paying an OC enough to afford Chow.

I may be off-base with some of this, but that is the impression that Hawaii has left.
