Rutgers Scarlet Knights (official troll of PedSU)

“I couldn't agree more,” Schiano said. “I think that getting a new coach three months into and having COVID hit and not being able to coach your guys, then having your season canceled, then reinstated in mid October, this group of players has been through a lot,” Schiano said to the media Thursday. “I just got done telling them that in our team meeting is, sometimes opportunities come your way. We always talk about there's no such thing as missed opportunities because someone's always going to take it. In this instance they were the person who gets to take it, and we're really looking forward to going out there and making the most of it.”

Rutgers football is making major moves to fill out its coaching staff. Among multiple reported changes, the Scarlet Knights are hiring Alabama analyst Mark Orphey as cornerbacks coach, per Pete Thamel.

Thamel also notes that Rutgers is promoting defensive quality control coach Drew Lascari to safeties coach. Linebacker coach Bob Fraser, who has served extensively with Rutgers coach Greg Schiano, is moving to a senior analyst role off the field.

Orphey was hired at Alabama in March 2021 to help with the Tide’s defensive game planning. He also worked in aiding the development of Alabama’s defensive backs.

Nothing we can do about it but Schiano is going to have Rutgers somewhere well above a doormat very soon.

That's no bueno.

Not to argue, but I'm really not worried. The only times Rutgers will beat Ohio State is when Ohio State is already having a down year. I think he'll bring them up from 1-8 and 2-7 to 4-5 and 5-4 years. They may surprise *ichigan or Sparty or Nebraska or Wisconsin. But it'll take a bunch of bad bounces and horrible play by Ohio State for them to even repeat what Maryland did in 2018.

I meant that he has them being something greater than zero on the effort scale.

Rutgers was the equivalent of SEC teams scheduling FBS teams. Now they have a pulse. We don't need to spend any extra effort that we don't have to.

No way to be surprised

Some of the highest taxes in entire USA
yet virtually every entity I know of is so far in debt they'll never recover

Debt of govt pension plans is ludicrous.. can only de a function of corruption over last 100 years

then to read this ... with the immense increase in TV revenue by adding the NY metro to the B1G... WTF

I think Rutgers is a more money, more problems kind of place.

B1G HAD to get the #1 NY media market and Rutgers was the ONLY option...
Schiano is doing his magic... and attendance will grow
but elite hotel rooms in Paris.. WTF?
Broadway Plays.. borderline... but really out there on the edge...
somebody had to sign off on that crap...

Hoops does well.. but other sports they excel at are non rev sports...

Rutgers consists of 5 very significantly sized campuses...

They drastically need to improve their FB facilities
but there you have chicken-and-egg...

I'm not going to research but a MAJOR problem with NJ is their 'retirement' packages...
For govt jobs, retirees get 80% of their highest annual comp for the rest of their lives !!!
NJ transit head makes $250K but with PAID OT, last one retired at 80% of well over $400K.. for the rest of his life
then they pay the new head $250K PLUS OT... so they're paying over $700K for the head of NJ transit !!!
If the teachers and coaches are part of that craziness...
THAT'S why we have the most expensive RE taxes in the USA... and will never catch up...
