Biography:
Anderson Russell rushed for 573 yards and 11 touchdowns on only 100 attempts in an option offense. He also competes on the diamond as a prep baseball player.
Coach's Comments: "Anderson is a punishing running back," said Head Coach Alan Chadwick. "He's big and strong with good potential. Anderson combines good quickness with good speed."
Scouting Report: Anderson Russell runs with good power and determination. He is an unselfish player who puts the needs of the team first. Russell could get a look at safety but will most likely project as a running back

Colleges: Offer from Duke; has attracted the attention of Georgia, Florida, Clemson, Tennessee, North Carolina and Ohio State.

If I weren't an athlete, I'd probably be: "A better student, with a 4.0 GPA. Without playing sports, I would have a lot more time to study."

Several coaches I spoke to on the day had the same reaction I did when I saw Anderson Russell of Marist, "I didn't know he was that big!". Russell checked in at 6-0 and 200 pounds, and he looked solid in drills all day. He caught the ball well out of the backfield. With three seniors vacating the State Champion's backfield, Russell is going to have a chance to get a lot of carries this year.

• Marist tailback Anderson Russell entered preseason practice with only one offer (Duke), but could end up with more than any other player in the area by season's end. College scouts are waiting to see Russell's production and durability over the course of a season as Marist's No. 1 offensive option.
