Serious System Error (Blue Screen of Death)

If you can recreate the blue screen error, do so, and then write down the entire phrase following "STOP ERROR" (it should look something like 0x000000xx). Sometimes you might have to hit "pause" on your keyboard to keep it around long enough before rebooting. Then post that error code. There are ways of looking up those codes online that will tell you everything you need to know. I had a mysterious blue screen with a computer I built at work, and it turned out to be a bad stick of ram - I found out by looking up the code.

Well it just did it again... right in the middle of something :smash:

Here is what it said after the stop error thingy:

Stop: 0x000000d1 (0x000000c0, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0xb6db536b)
wubd502u.sys - address b6db536b base at bd67d000, datestamp 406329d2

I hope that helps someone diagnose this problem because it's really starting to piss me off.

Stop errors suck. Generally this relates to a hardware issue or perhaps a driver trying to access some hardware that ends up crashing the entire system.

Do you have a way to back up your data to disk or something? It might be a good idea.

Here's a site for troubleshooting stop errors.

It really sounds like a driver problem to me. And since it started after you installed the wireless adapter, I would have to blame it on that. Course the only way to find out for sure is to either replace it with a different one, or just take it out and see if the problem goes away, (of course I know you wouldnt have internet if you did that). You may even want to go see if there is a newer driver for the wireless card now, or even just reinstall the driver you have on there.

If you are just getting random crashes odds are it's one of three things:

Check the system log in the event log, see if you are having hard drive issues, like failures reading HDA0 or anything of that nature.

If that's fine, check your memory, if you have multiple sticks in there remove one and boot up your pc, see if it crashes, if it continues replace the stick you took out with the one in there.

If after testing to verify your memory is fine you're still crashing then odds are it's your video card.

From my experience, the most common causes of "random blue screens" is memory or video card.

This error is sometimes linked to faulty CDRom Drives, USB drives and bad memory. You should be able to find a free RAM test program online, if that doesnt help keep an eye on whether you are accessing a flash drive or CD drive when it locks.

Off brand anti Virus programs (not norton ot Mcafee) are sometimes blamed for the failure aas well.
