Serous question: How much time is the team putting in preparing for Texas?

This is my first post over here on the planet (longtime at Bucknuts). I have been reading threads for a while now and decided its time to join. Lots of great posters on this site. Very well set up. Good job to all!!
Welcome aboard Willy. Willy is my dad, so everybody please take it easy on him, the poor guy already has to put up with me every week :)

I don't know about how much the coaching staff/whole team is focusing on Texas, but I'll bet you anything that Troy smith knows last year's Longhorn defense as well as anyone
does anyone else think that having Troy run the Scout team is actually an ADVANTAGE for the Silver Bullets? i mean, who better to emulate a big, strong, fast QB than a big, strong, fast QB...? i know that Vince is bigger than Troy, not sure about stronger or faster, but i think that since it really isn't a stretch to say that their styles are similar, it definitely helps the D get ready for VY...

any takers?

I think I had posted something similar in one of the 9,435 posts in the Texas Game thread. He will definitely help us prepare. We're gonna fuck Vince Young up. Just think of those "big hit" highlights from the Alamo Bowl...

LOL... i think i missed that one... is that thread self-aware yet? one of these days, it's just going to start posting on it's own, and BP will be the proud parent of True Artificial Intelligence... :p

i'm thinking that VY is going to have a "Corby Jones, meet Andy Katzenmoyer" type moment...

i have to admit that i nearly busted a nut when Hawk leveled Woods in the Alamo... i thought AJ had killed him...

Miami's not some crappy team that WILL fold by the 2nd quarter. And as for your claim that it hasn't happened in the past, we seemed to handle TxTech, WSU pretty well by the second half.

There's no way they're going to overlook the Miami game. Its their first freaking game in a billion months, and Zwick/Boeckman (as well as others that could see more PT than usual) may not get another shot like this during the 05 season.

BN27: MoC's coming back to play against Miami? That ought to get a rise from this group. I got flamed for posting his name without the terms "MF er, ing" God only knows what you're going to get for posting his picture. This is a tough audiance.

I remember when he verballed right near the end of the 2002 recruiting season. One of the first things I thought of was that his running the scout team as a mobile QB would help our defense get ready for running QB's. Of course, I never envisioned what he did in the scUM game.

[The three great lies -

1. The check is in the mail.

2. I promise not to, er, uh, in your - well, you know that one.

3. We are taking it one game at a time.

I was under the impression that the three biggest lies were:

1) This will only hurt for a little while

2) I'll only put the head of it in

3) I promiss that i'll never ____ in your mouth

It's the home opener...there is zero chance that the team comes out flat. If this was the 3rd game of the season (like the SDSU game) then I'd be a little bit worried...you can't look past any team, we saw that last year in the Northwestern game...Miami is a very good team, hopefully we can just run the ball all day against them...because if we can't, then we sure as heck won't be able to do it next week.

A big reason you gotta prepare for Miami...this is definitely the ONLY game they are preparing for. This game would make their season.

I agree on the point about openers. Tressel has always prepped well for them, and the team usually puts on a strong show. Even if the team has some deficiencies, they are usually masked pretty well in the first game. Like it's been said, I'm more worried about games 2, 3, and 4.
