I can't change the system.

He should not get to play if he's fucking banned from the game. It's absurd on every level. It's indefensible.

Which is exactly why it needs to happen to get anything to change.

Better yet, go back to when this game was for fun instead of this bullshit "This time it counts" garbage.

BTW the last All-Star game I watched was in 2001. Ever since Cal retired I've had no interest at all.

How about if the league says he can't play to display a little bit of strentgh of character?

can't stop it.
it is in the collective bargaining agreement that if the fans vote a player in, a suspension can't keep him out of it.

i think that was probably written in so that if a guy got suspended for charging the mound or something couple days before the game could still play.

his supension ends before the All Star game, so unless he does something stupid again, he won't be under suspension by All Star weekend.

still sucks that fans are actually voting him in though.

For some reason I was thinking that his suspension covered that game. Not sure why. My opinion is slightly changed now. But not my opinion of the fans voting him in, or the commissioner.

Lord knows they need it.

Agreed they "need" it dude, but "strength and character" aren't exactly prevalent terms in baseball these days.

Peace.

Fans voting for Man-Ram isn't any worse than fans of <insert team here> stuffing the ballot box with their players. Anybody look at the first release of All-Star voting tallies? A Milwaukee Brewer was either first or second at every single IF position in the NL, and their starting OF occupied three of the top seven vote getters.

If the Brewers were the '27 Yankees, I wouldn't have a problem with this, but the fact is their lineup has as many holes as anybody elses.

Fuck the MLB All-Star game and fan voting.

When the game determines home field advantage for the World Series and likely a few contract bonuses for players, managers, and coaches, not to mention the obvious residual income from endorsements, its a pretty big deal that shouldn't be left to fan voting.

Just another big ball of fail spun by the Selig administration, like Interleague play, unbalanced divisions/scheduling, failure to negotiate national TV time for your small market franchises, steroids/PEDs, ownership collusion to rip franchises from "unworthy" cities, and failure to implement a salary cap and a salary floor.

If Bud Selig were on fire I wouldn't cross the street to piss on him.

If Manny playing highlights the absurdity of the All-Star Game, let him play. Fuck, go ahead and write in Canseco, McGwire, Sosa, Daryl Kile, Adenhart, Caminiti, and a bunch of other dead/disgraced/suspended/retired players on your ballots and fill up both leagues' rosters with 'em.

IIRC his suspension ends July 3. The All Star game will be played on July 14.

Right after Pete Rose is admitted to the Hall of Fame.

Pete gambled on the game.

ManRam cheated and used roids to enhance his game.

Since Selig is spineless wimp and since he'll be skewered one way or the other, I want ManRAM in a meaningless game like the ASG just to embarrass the MLB even more.

I'm sure Manny doesn't blame himself in todays society. Even here in ohio this November they are trying to push thru a medical marijuana bill so why not have athletes do all the doping they want.

Screw Mannie it's time to get some semblance of conduct back into sports.
