Casey, his 8.5M contract and punch and judy bat will be going to Pittsburgh for lefty suck ass pitcher Dave Williams according to reliable rumors (lol).

Personally, I'm happy with any trade that gets rid of Casey. I liked the guy but he's vastly over paid and in the way.

Now Dunn can move to 1B and Willy Mo Pena and Austin Kearns can play every day.

Best part is how fucking bad this will eat at Marty. He'll bitch about this untill the day he fucking dies....mark my words. I love it.

Wow, I hate this, you don't just get rid of your best hitter and face of your orginization like that, and who the fuck is Dave Williams. He better be good or I am going to join Marty in being pissed about htis.

If that does indeed come to fruition, I'll miss Casey. He's been nothing but a classy Red who has given it his all everyday.

I heard this morning that Kearns was being shopped around. If he gets traded, I wouldn't miss his shitty-ass bat.

Couldnt agree more. Kearns has more problems at the bat and getting injured than just about anyone in major league baseball.

Casey is definitely the best hitter for average, but he is not a run producer. Freeing up the $$$ is what this is about. That and getting all four outfielders in the lineup.

Dave Williams:

I'll miss Casey tremendously. By far, my favorite player on the Reds. Not so much for his play, but for who he is as a person and the impact he had made in the community.

Congratulations on returning home Sean!!! Most of us will miss you. (Not Jax, though.:tongue2: )

So we are getting a guy with a career losing record 17-26, never a winning record an a career earned run avg. of 4.25 for a consistent 300 hitter. Give me a break, the reds organization is stupid, and they will never win with those fucks running the organization.

I like the fact they are going after pitching, but why the hell can't we breed a damn pitcher like every other fuckin' team int he majors or get someone that has a career winning record.

Our lineup will be lucky to hit 250 next year. I don't look for Lopez to have as much success as he had this year, Griffey has been around 260, Dunn 240, Kearns 200, Willy Mo 250, Larue has he eclipsed 200 yet, EE while he is still young will maybe hit 260(love his upside), and our pitchers couldnt hit a damn ball if they tried.

Where the hell are the hits going to come from. We had one consistent bat that you felt confident in him gettin a hit.

Well also Freel, but he is a crazy man and gets hurt running into walls all the time.

The best hitter isn't being traded...Casey is.

I will miss him as a person but shit needs to change with the Reds and he was a major stumbling block. Bad part is that now I'm hearing we'll eat some of the contract which if thats the case makes this deal less than spectacular. I'll wait until it's all over to pas judgement but casey moving is a step in the right direction.

Just wondering who you think the best hitter is. I have no problem with restructuring a little bit, but why not an outfielder, they are more easier to come by than you team leader and best hitter(IMO:biggrin: )

As for us eating his contract, jsut another stupid move by the ownership, and gm.

Agreed. There is no pitcher in the minors that is going to be a stud starter. Why? Pick a reason. Poor scouting, bad drafts, bad luck. Take your pick.

We still led the NL in runs scored last year. The homerun makes up for a lot of poor average hitters.

I am also sad to see Casey go, but with a new owner everyone has to realize that they are all trade bait. I remember how Whitey Herzog broke up the Cardinals' great hitting team that could never win anything by trading Ted Simmons, Terry Kennedy, and Garry Templeton, and got pitching in return. They won the World Series only 3 years later (1982). I'm making no such predictions for this team, but obviously something needs to change. I'm sure there were a lot of Ted Simmons fans in St. Louis but they got over it when light-hitting Darrell Porter guided their pitching staff to a WS victory over Simmons and the Brewers.

If Casey gets traded...I hope he beats up on the Reds everytime he plays them. Trade Dunn or Pena...not Casey. Too many transcations in baseball now a days. Trades used to be BIG DEALS...now they happen to every team every year. I miss barry larkin...

I don't understand this, at all. Look what happened last year when the Reds signed Eric Milton (a mediocre pitcher, who they thought was a stud). He came in, and pitched terribly. What do you expect from Dave Williams? I believe that unless you're a standout pitcher that it is very difficult to pitch effectively in the Great American Ballpark. It's one of the best hitter's ballparks in the majors. Dave Williams=

Well we do have Homer Bailey and he started to come on strong, but they will ease him up to the majors, probably a year or two away as he came straight from high school. We also got those two guys from the Padres in the Joe Randa deal, but just no studs.

Does nothing for us tho when we play against good pitching all the time. In the central we face studs and it does no good when we can't hit them. If we are going to trade Casey we need to bring something back in return.

Exactally Eric Milton is still making 8 million a year b/c he threw one no hitter. He gives up more home runs than I would give up.

I would rather have a mediocore ground ball pitcher than anything.

I like the deal. Casey wasnt a run producer, but was playing at a run producing spot. He was a slow first baseman that couldnt hit for power.

I think we save 6-7 million on this deal. We could use some of this money to help sign Dunn Long term. Hopefully the new ownership will open up their pockets and spend their money smartly on pitching.
