Tajh Boyd (official thread)

My Brain: 2 and counting (Adams, Boyd) My gut: 0

- Honestly, LJB called it...we never win these battles. If a southern kid decides late, has already previously committed, etc., we aren't the winners. I've always felt we would land Boyd but I know from experience to put my vcash on Clemson. This really hurts our depth though, hopefully we can get Boucher because as Oregon proved this year, 2 QB's can sometimes not be enough. I have faith in both of TP and Bauserman but Gardner still has another year before he can possibly play here. If they stay healthy, no harm done. But if they get hurt...a walk-on is our starter.

Good luck to Taj at Clemson, but his commitment there made me remember something. What is going on with Willy Korn the suppossed super-recruit and QB star of the future that committed to Clemson a couple of years ago. I haven't heard anything about him since he was in high school.

He has gotten some playing time, didn't do much with it, and then got hurt again last season. I watched him play a lot in high school, I live pretty close, and I am not surprised that he did not pan out, but he could next year . . .

Good luck Tajh. It should be fun watching a great QB play at a school with an new coach and off. cord.

Good luck to young Mr. Boyd at Clemson I can't say that I'm surprised, and I'm not particularly disappointed. By all indications, Devin Gardener is going to be an early commit to the 2010 class, and will be the QB of the future after TP. Boyd isn't someone we were counting on getting throughout the process or a player we absolutely had to have. Really, the staff did a great job of getting in on the kid late in an effort to increase depth, and he would have been a nice bonus on top of a fantastic class.

Still, I'm curious as to the backstory on this one. It sounds like it's going to be interesting.

Would like to see an offer to Boucher. The kid just reminds me so much of Krenzel.

Word is that we just gave an offer to Boucher. I'm not very surprised, from what I have heard we have been vey upfront with him and told him that he would be next on the list.

Looking forward to this, I would also like to see Austin come.

Korn was pretty overrated. I hate to say it, because he is an incredible athlete and a great quarterback. However, based on what I've seen he isn't very capable of great things in college. Honestly just a product of hype. I wish he'd prove me wrong. Kyle Parker (08) is a stud from what I've been told. I have a few friends on the team one of which is on the OL and all say Parker is better than Korn. Regardless, they said it was unlikely that Parker will ever start because he is so short. At least he is here on baseball as well . Please keep in mind that none of the players have said a single derogatory thing about Korn so who knows.

Nevertheless, I am elated with Tahj's decision and hopefully he will be worth the inner turmoil he caused the fans - of all 3 teams.

Go Tigers!

What I'd like to know is, "What did Lane Kiffin know, and when did he know it?" :wink2:

Pretty much how I felt about Tajh as well. He would've been a nice pick-up, but Bauserman is a very capable backup (some actually saw him as TB's backup), and we have three emergency QB's. TP's presence + Clemson's depth chart = Good luck @ Clemson, Tajh. Now on to Gardner.

I sure hope Boyd can bring Clemson back to a respectable level, there's so much talent on that team yet they underachieve yearly. Boyd, CJ Spiller and Jamie Harper in the backfield sounds great on paper. Too bad we couldn't snag this kid

Clemson frosh ready for QB comp

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) -- It's hard enough coming off knee surgery and dealing with a new home. Freshman quarterback Tajh Boyd, though, has bigger things planned for his first season at Clemson.

Less than six months removed from ACL surgery on his left knee that can often take a year or more to recover, Boyd says he's ready to contend for the Tigers opening under center.

"To me, I feel like I've got just as good a shot as any of those guys," Boyd said this week. "I'm just trying to prepare myself as best I can."

Boyd was the surprising completion to what first-full-year coach Dabo Swinney called his "dandy dozen" back in February. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound passer from Hampton, Va., looked hard at Oregon and Ohio State, barely considering Clemson until his friend -- and fellow Tiger recruit -- receiver Bryce McNeal decided to come there last January.

Cont'd ...

Parker Wins Clemson Starting Quarterback Job | WSPA

Clemson redshirt freshman Kyle Parker has won the Tigers? starting quarterback job, Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney announced following Monday morning?s practice. Parker battled redshirt sophomore Willy Korn, the only quarterback on the roster with any significant game experience at the position, during spring drills and into the August camp. Parker says it?s a relief to learn of his status now, just under three weeks before Clemson?s season opener against Middle Tennessee. Korn says he?s been assured by Clemson?s coaches he?ll see playing time in each game. Swinney says Korn will play on a regular basis in reserve.

The coach adds that the goal is to redshirt highly-regarded true freshman Tajh Boyd, who indicated earlier this month that he?s ?about 85 per cent recovered? from a major knee injury he suffered during his senior season in high school.
