TE Jake Stoneburner (Official Thread)

Notre Dame has offers to two big time receivers that their fans will tell you they have a pretty good shot in Flyod and Buckner out of Texas...That leads me to believe this is a flex TE offer...

Either way they will split him out at times and use all of his skills...
Jake has been told ND is recruiting for the H-Back role in their offense.

ND uses an H-Back? Funny, haven't seen them use an H-Back once so far in Charlie's first two seasons there. Didn't they just sign that kid out of Western PA Steve Paskorz (sp?) in the 2007 class to be their H-Back of the future? I would've thought ND was trying to sell him on being the next Jeff Smardjza aka the great white hype. Afterall that is how they got Robby Paris back in 2006, well that angle and Charlie telling him that white receivers don't ever play at Michigan.

Stoneburner could stay at WR if his reported measurables are legit IMO. He's listed at 6'5, 215 and his reported 40 yard dash time is a 4.52 and his shuttle a 4.3. Very good times for a kid that size and is probably comparable to if not flat-out better than what Jeff Smardjza is going to run at his Pro Day or NFL Combine and the Stoneburner kid is still in high school and has even more time to get his times down.

From the UM site...Jake talks about UM's Junior Day. Jake says Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame and Iowa are all even (all have offered except OSU).

The fact that he has everyone even despite OSU not offering tells me that an OSU offer could change a lot of things. Here's hoping that one is headed his way sooner rather than later.

I agree, let's get Jake an offer. In my eyes, so long as these guys all see themselves as friends and entertain the idea of going to school together, not offering (when the player is qualified) becomes risky. I don't know who the glue is for all of these potential recruits (seems like Adams), but getting a couple of these Coffman kids on board would be a great start.

I am still calling for Jake to be our first commitment of the 2008 class!!

By the way, I would like to point out how nice it is to see so many Ohio kids getting offered by "speed" conferences this year.

Jake, Sanders, Beachum, Moore, and several others make me sad we have a small number of schollies this year.

I can already hear the quotes from the Scout and Rivals peanut galleries saying that "we missed on him" and "how did they not sign the Ohio kid!!"

I actually heard one guy this year on ESPN say that OSU has had the fence around Ohio taken down with the 07 recruiting class.

Anyway, Jake would make a nice Buckeye!!

His highlight reel was just put up on scoutingohio.com

If you ask me, he's a wide receiver all the way. He's not at all too slow to be a wide receiver at the next level, and he's only going to get faster too.

He's an extremely physical receiver. Reminds me a bit of a faster Joe Jurevicious. However, he's a pretty good deep threat, and has some nice yards after catch runs too. He's hard to bring down.
