Huh? Not at all. I simply do not understand how behavior and character of players is any different in the NBA than in the NFL. Both leagues have good guys and bad guys. The NFL actually has a far bigger problem with its players getting in legal trouble than the NBA does. There were probably more Bengals arrested over the past 24 months than NBA players as a whole. Yet, the NFL is popular and the NBA invites trolls. The Bengals are looked at as anomolies and Stephen Jackson is looked at as a poster child.

You know what people really have a problem with when it comes to the NBA? It's that you can see the players. In the NFL, you have helmets, pads, large jerseys that allow the fan to only see a football player, and not have to worry about the person. In the NBA, the player is out there. The tats are out there. The cornrows are out there. That's what people hate when it comes to the NBA. They don't want themselves or their children to be exposed to a culture they choose to ignore.

There. I said it.

By the way, the team I hate most in the NBA is the Knicks. We get it. They suck. Isiah sucks. Stephon Marbury is one of the worst excuses for a point guard I have ever seen. We get it. They are irrelevant, so stop talking about them.

Again, you used the Spurs as your example of the character of the NBA. You picked the best characters to illustrate the entire league is not lacking in character. It makes for a weak argument.

This last argument is much, much better, and I almost completely agree. I'd have to see the actual numbers to say the NFL has a bigger problem (at least by percentage of arrests, etc.) but I'd say it's close at the least. If people saw some NFLers in a game of pickup basketball they would probably assume "those thugs must be the Indiana Pacers".

It's still a different kind of basketball, but if they played the exact same way and every player looked like Steve Nash the NBA wouldn't get nearly the same grief that it currently does.

Well, my main argument with the Spurs wasn't to characterize them an example for the rest of the league. My point was that I don't understand why people don't like them more. If the main issue fans have with the NBA is perceived selfishness and showboating, then shouldn't they cheer for the team that is the antithesis of those characteristics? Why aren't the Spurs the most popular team in the NBA?


It's still a different kind of basketball, but if they played the exact same way and every player looked like Steve Nash the NBA wouldn't get nearly the same grief that it currently does.

I want to say the PHX Suns. If only because all the "Are they finally tough enough to go all the way?" stories have become as tiresome as the "Can Dallas play enough defense to win in playoffs?" stories we used to be bombarded with. It seems like having Steve Nash on your roster lead to repetitive media coverage. Maybe after a reporter writes his first "HOLY COW! Steve Nash is white, short, and Canadian, but still good?!? WTF?" article, there isn't much more they can think of to say.

Also, since I live in North Carolina I hear all about the college basketball scene, but almost nothing about the NBA. The only time local radio shows or newspapers cover it is to point out how awful the Bobcats are. So I'm a little sick of hearing about the Bobcats. I get it they are a joke. The expansion was probably a mistake. Charlotte doesn't want/appreciate a pro basketball team. Now could you please talk about the rest of the association? :mad2:

I checked out their game against the Celtics on TNT- PATHETIC.
