Gotta take one of my pups to the vet today. Has a weird limp. Wish her luck, everyone. I'm nervous. Seems like more than a hurt paw. If it's more than a hurt paw.. it's probably arthritis or myelopathy. That last one has me terrified.

We're pretty sophisticated dog people/pet people... wife is retired 18 yr vet tech (thinks she's a descendent of St Francis and gonna save all animals)...
Nutramax Dasuquin with MSM Chewables does wonders for pups' joints.. we start ours early...

Was never aware how often big dogs tear their ACLs... Years ago we helped friends with a 260 lb mastiff who tore hers... $5K surgery... year later tore it again... First time I saw the pup looked like a thick pony..
another surprise... cost of MRIs.. function of dog size... can be $2500 for 30 lbs and $5000 for 65 up

The halftime entertaining at the game last night was très entertaining. I had a video, but as you can see, I was in the upper section so my video probably doesn't do it justice. Luckily I found a video of this performance at an Arizona game a few years back which was pretty much identical to the one last night in terms of the routine.

What does this have to do with dogs you ask?

At around 2:55 of the video, the dog really steals the sheaux.

While mine sprained my wrist lunging on the leash at some dog barking at her through the window. 10 years with a 110 lb Bernese strong enough to pull 500lbs up the side of an Alp, and it's the 40 pounder that finally got me.

She won't be happy about, but she'll be getting the gentle leader for a bit.

the two newest dudes.. left is Sheltie who will tap out around 27 lbs; on right is a Collie in same blood line we had before; he'll tap out closer to 90 lbs like the other we had before
makes 4... was hoping we'd stay at 2... gave in to 3 but we've tried to get one from the litter (on the right) for 3 years but breeder has every pup committed thru 2025...
so as it happens, a week after we get the one of the left, Collie breeder calls and says a buyer had a change in his life and a male pup was avail... it's pretty crazy here

We're hoping for another lightning in a bottle with this collie because the one we had from this line before was an excellent dog.. died of heartbreak when our female crossed the bridge
