The Polls (AP, Coaches, & CFP, etc.)

No argument that the SEC is overrated and that GA should've beat Bama.

By that same argument of "eye test".... do you wanna talk about the Ped State win? The MD win? The Corn win?

Yeah, GA choked to Bama (who also happened to have Hurts and a pretty damn good offense) but did they need a miracle against an MD team to win? did they CONSISTENTLY look like crap on D (OU did.... no argument, but not GA)...... or ffs..... not be willing to go under center on 4th and short (and I'm surprised Woody didn't rise from the grave to kick Urban's ass over that.)

This simply isn't a pretty year for the Buckeyes. Everyone knows it, nobody seems to remember all of sudden how shitty this team looked in weeks 5 thru 9, even though they won all but one of those games. Why is so hard to remember all of a sudden?

You can't ask for the ranking to be any better..... again, it's damn lucky that we are 6. Lose to MD..... and we came a cunt hair from it..... and what should we be ranked? Or Ped State? Or Corn? Hell, even the IU was dismal (they are something like a "second 50" offende but they put up 300+ passing as I recall.)

Seriously...... how fucking good do you think this team looks to those who don't bleed Buckets red?

I mean, what spectacular "eye test" did UGA really put up this year?

Ohio State's loss to Purdue was bad, but the stomping we put on scUM is much better than anything UGA achieved.

Yea it wasnt a pretty season, but I don't think it's unreasonable at all to say that Ohio State on their best day is better than UGA on their best day.

Ohio State is clearly hitting their stride a bit too late, however UGA did just take a 2nd loss. It's a joke they were seriously considered to stay in the playoff after said loss. You can bet your ass that if OU would have lost they would have kept UGA in. I believe the committee made that 100% clear. Why even play the SEC title game at that point? They might as well just put both SEC division winners in every year.

It's not the "eye test" GA put up, it's what WE DIDN'T DO.

I don't follow GA but did they struggle with anyone except LSU and Bama? I don't think so. Did tOSU struggle almost every week from 5 to 9? The honest answer is yes. The fanboy answer is: shouldn't matter, we beat NW and won our conference.

Yeah, well, UCF beat Memphis and won their conference too...... and Memphis lost several games but didn't lose to a team like Akron. And they're undefeated.

But.... but.... strength of schedule. GA has a higher SOS than tOSU.

Again, men don't whine when they made their own bed. Don't fucking lose to Purdue, we aren't worrying about this. Don't look like shit on defense for several weeks, we aren't worrying about this. Don't play in a conference that doesn't give you a leg up on the system, we aren't worrying about this.

Man up. OU sucks..... ALL DAY LONG..... and will get embarrassed by Bama.

GA simply looks better than tOSU --- by the criteria the committee uses --- and that criteria might suck, but somehow trying to deny the mid-season crap tOSU looked like suddenly doesn't matter...... simply isn't something I think Woody would do.

Quoting the Man: “The only thing even in this world is the number of hours in a day. The difference in winning or losing is what you do with those hours.”

“In football we always said that the other team couldn't beat us. We had to be sure that we didn't beat ourselves. And that's what people have to do, too-make sure they don't beat themselves.”

Straight from the man. Nobody is responsible for tOSU's ranking issues other than tOSU.

This is the key

OSU must go undefeated, not the same for SEC and Clemson.

and for the record, if anyone thinks an undefeated OSU team wouldn't have gotten the same kind of "yeah but UGA stayed close to Bama" round of talking head fuckery, they are naive.

It doesn't matter what OSU does. Short of winning every game by 21+ they will be compared to the teams ESPN wants in and that will be done by the rules or the road ESPN establishes.

They just found a way to justify a 2 loss UGA being ahead of a 1 loss conference champ OSU.

There is nothing they won't do. Nothing.

Do we even know what "criteria" the committee uses?

They've been over inflating LSU all season......a team that in 1 loss scored 0 points and in another GAVE UP 74 points. UGA got pummeled by this team. Yea yea yea, Purdue, whatever. But once again what exactly has UGA done this year that's so spectacular? You can say what we didnt do, but what we did do was definitely better than anything UGA did......

Using the "DONT LOSE TO PURDUE" argument is giving the committee a pass for their clear bias toward the SEC. It's been proven time and time again that the 1st loss doesnt count for SEC teams.....so the "dont lose" argument becomes invalid at that point. Because it's different rules for different folks. Hell this year it came very close to the 2nd loss not counting for an SEC team. Something is pretty wrong with that.

Florida got beat by 21 AT HOME by a Missouri team, who at the time was 4-4 and dropped only 4 spots in the CFP poll. (this was also Florida's 2nd beating they took in as many weeks)

We can't tell how far they would have dropped Ohio State for the Purdue loss because the first CFP poll didnt come out until after that. But I can assure you we would have dropped quite a bit more spots than 4

Ignoring that BESIDES Purdue this tOSU team looked like a hot mess for half the damn season is just fanboy BS. We're better than that.

This is not a great football team. They're spotty on defense (and that's being generous)..... they're offensive play calling is sometimes past bizarre to just plain dumb..... the refusal to EVER go under center is perhaps not unAmerican, but certainly un-tOSU and has cost us...... the fire I expect from a tOSU team was really only present in the last 2 games.

It's the end of the damn season. Time to put away the "we get screwed every year" shit and thank our lucky stars this year we aren't 10-3. If you don't think we couldn't EASILY BE 10-3....... you're blind.

Ok, but even then that doesn't change that fact that losses for SEC teams either don't count or barely count. No other conference is afforded this luxury (well maybe Clemson but not the ACC as a whole)

Yes we could help ourselves by not losing to Purdue/Iowa but that doesnt change the fact that there is a clear bias toward the SEC. And it's really pretty much that whole conference riding the coat tails of Bama's success. The blind benefit of the doubt that the teams in that conference get from the CFP committee is ridiculous. I don't think there is any way to defend it.

One could EASILY argue the B1G rides tOSU too, since ttun...... isn't really a factor to beat anymore.

What's propping up ped state except the ghost of Joe? Sparty?...... every 10 years they're a minor issue. Rutgers?.... hehehe. Corn?...... not even. The others..... c'mon...... WI isn't consistent.

So, essentially, ttun and tOSU can be counted on..... the rest tide us.

In the SEC, it's GA and Bama....... the rest are living on past glory and coattails, much like B1G teams like Corn. I live in fucking TN and they thought they "had something" a couple of years ago. They did..... they had their head up their ass. Peyton's gone.... retired from the NFL even..... get the fuck over it.

The truth is: bitching that the "waaaahhhh, the SEC gets the breaks" is fucking lame. Whip asses regularly, often, and badly....... and you won't have this problem.

We didn't whip asses, we barely slipped by several teams who should've been gone in the first half.

Look like shit, get treated like shit. Whether fair or not.

NOT LOOKING LIKE SHIT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY.

All this whining NOW..... after the fucking worst season in recent memory...... about how we aren't ranked high enough is...... well.... too fucking lame for my generation.

The season is a reminder of why I root against Notre Dame when they play scUM. We can take care of scUM in November, but we need someone else to knock off ND.

It didn't happen this year.

Everything fell right into place for ND this year.

Anyone on their schedule after scUM who was maybe supposed to be something decent ended up being hot trash. Stanford (8-4) Va Tech (6-6) Florida State (5-7) USC (5-7)

Not their fault that those teams ended up all blowing chunks, but it definitely ended up setting up nicely for them. When Syracuse is the 2nd "best" team you face all season, things are definitely in your favor.

They didnt pull the stinker loss like Ohio State did to Purdue, but they sure did come too close to losing to Ball State, Vandy & Pitt, well USC as well. Will be shocked if they stay within 10 of Clemson

And for all of the clear bias, there have been five different Big Ten teams ranked in the CFP top four in five seasons, with Penn State missing out on being the sixth by a week.

Maybe it really doesn't matter that much and people seriously whining about a meaningless #5/#6 ranking are just being salty bitches.

the power in the SEC has been heavily slanted toward the west for about a decade now.

typically the 3rd (sometimes 4th) place team in the west could win the east, and maybe one team from the east could compete for the west.
Oh of course, but it's the same for the B1G East (over its shorter life so far), and so the champs of both those divisions are going to play some dogs in their CCGs.

It does matter though. The fact that UGA was even in any consideration to stay in the top 4 after taking a 2nd loss while 2 other P5 champs won their conference title game with 1 loss should be a big problem. But some people seem to give a free pass to it.
