Sears, you knew about the date that the Red Sox' retired numbers used to translate into before they were rearranged, right?

BY PURE COINCIDENCE, the Sox retired Williams, Cronin, Doerr, and Yaz' numbers. They would appear (in order) on the Fenway facade as 9, then 4, then 1, then 8. 9-4-18: September 4, 1918. Game 1 of the 1918 World Series (it was moved up from Oct. b/c of WW1). Now that's freeky.

The Sox changed the order to appear as 1, 4, 8, & 9 to "Reverse the Curse."

sears: "I'm hardly a very superstitious person, but some of these things can't be chalked up to pure coincidence."

Definately. If all the Tony Conigliaros, Aaron Boones, Bucky Dents, Bill Buckners, and Mike Torrez' of the world hasn't hammered in the fact that there's something amiss with that franchise, then that should tell you something right there.
