Tiger Woods announces Sun Day Red clothing brand through TaylorMade after split with Nike

Woods now has his own brand and a brand-new logo

Tiger Woods had a decision to make after his 27-year relationship with Nike came to a close at the end of 2023, and golf fans surely wondered what Woods would wear on the golf course when he returned to play at the 2024 Genesis Invitational. While it may forever be odd to see Woods in anything other than the trademark swoosh and "TW" logo, we now have an answer to those questions.

Tiger officially announced his own brand on Monday in Los Angeles, which will be known as Sun Day Red (SDR for short).

Yes, that is two words split into three, a nod to Woods' propensity to wear red on Sundays. The Tiger logo, he said, has 15 stripes -- one for each of his 15 major championships. The entire line will be available May 1, and Woods launched a website to go along with the apparel Monday evening.

He also addressed the three-word name on the website.

The word mark appears as 3 words for a simple reason: there is a special power in 3's. Calling it Sun Day Red was a fun way for us to create something completely different and unexpected. Born from a love for being outside in the sun, the joy of playing golf during the day, and a special red being the brands power color - as soon as Sun Day Red was placed on a garment for the first time, it just looked perfect.

BN27, it's all about the marketing. Arnie had his umbrella, Jack had his golden bear, Trevino had his Mexican Hat, and others had their schtick. If it's successful, then they by golly don't want some schlub copying their thingy and siphoning dollars away from them. Basic economics. Since Tiger's big days are behind him, took him long enough to develop his 'own' brand. I'm just happy there's only 15 ribs (?) in his tiger, since that acknowledges that he's not a gonna catch Jack's majors record. Does anyone know if Tiger still commands another 50,000 followers on the course when he plays? Not that Tiger needs anymore income. PS, I know I'm not telling you anything you don't already know....

Tiger Woods in line to play in 26th Masters; eying cut record

Barring a setback in the next four days, it seems likely that five-time Masters champion Tiger Woods will make his 26th appearance at Augusta National Golf Club this week.

Woods, 48, flew from Stuart, Florida to Augusta on Sunday and spent some time at the club's practice area with his caddie, Lance Bennett. Woods and Bennett worked together at the Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club outside Los Angeles in February.

Augusta National Golf Club posted photos of Woods practicing Sunday on its X account.

It will be the first time Woods and Bennett have worked together at Augusta National. Woods' former caddie, Joe LaCava, who helped him win his fifth green jacket in 2019, is now working as Patrick Cantlay's full-time caddie.

This week, Woods will attempt to set a Masters record by making the cut for the 24th consecutive time. Last year, he made the 36-hole cut and tied Gary Player and Fred Couples but was forced to withdraw before the rain-delayed third round resumed after aggravating plantar fasciitis in his right foot.

In his last start, Woods was forced to withdraw from the Genesis Invitational during the second round because of illness. The 15-time major champion later confirmed that he was battling the flu. Woods also dealt with lower back tightness during that tournament.

Notah Begay III, Woods' former teammate at Stanford and a golf analyst for NBC Sports, said on a conference call last week that Woods was suffering from lower back problems.

"He's trying to formulate a strategy and approach that he can work within given the constraints that he's presented with -- and he's got some constraints," Begay said "He's got zero mobility in that left ankle and really has low-back challenges now, which he knew he was going to have."

Looks old and tired

Yeah, he probably has the worst back, knees, and right leg/ankle on the tour too. He's probably damn lucky he can still walk, let alone play 4 rounds of competitive* "professional golf".

*After playing Thursday and Friday he did make the cut.
