To boo or not to boo - when does it go too far?

The point is this is a message board of individuals who are not speaking directly to Zwick. Those booers were drectly indending to make Zwick feel bad about his performance.

Do we go overboard occasionally? Sure... but we're not intending to directly offend him and make him feel like trash.

Buckfromscum-you're a good poster but I respectfuly disagree with you

Saying something about a kid direct or indirect can have the same effect. Thats just an excuse to get on a player.

boo'ers also aren't speaking directly. Its still considered indirect because its not to his face although its fairly close. Getting boo'ed would have teh same effect as reading a post.

I think the bottom line is that we shouldn't boo anybody that gives their absolute all every Saturday in the 'Shoe. There's no excuse to show that kind of disrespect towards a hard working individual. I'm not saying that you do boo anybody BukI, but I'm just saying that it is an unexceptable action for anyone.

BukIpower, I'll agree with you that bashing kids here and then criticizing people for booing in the stadium would be hypocritical. But bashing and booing are BOTH wrong, and I just can't see making excuses for either one.

thing is BB27 I've said that.... Although he's giving his all their's some fans out their who boo because they do have every right. 4th year in college and if he can't handle the boo's then he obviously wouldnt' like these sights either.

hahaha Deety I agree with you 100% . Thats what I'm trying to say, but people got me going and next thing I know I got people saying F-you and I dunno bout anyone else but I would hope you wouldn't allow anyone to say that DIRECTLY to you with out going into detail why you believe a certain way. At that point is where I got pretty much dropped into the red when it comes to those little things in the top right corner.

At a young age, I attended an OSU v Miami game in the 'Shoe, before Miami became a real national power. OSU was supposed to stomp them, but only won by a 10 - 0 score. There were times when people around us (I was there with my father) booed the Buckeyes. At one point, my father looked at me and said, "Son, these are college kids playing the game. They are not getting paid money to play football. It just isn't right to boo college kids playing the game. Once they turn pro, and are getting paid to do this game, then it is alright to boo their performance." My father and I didn't necessarily have the best relationship or see eye-to-eye on many things, but I believe that brief exchange he had with me in the 'Shoe was dead on.

I can not agree with the premise that it is anyone's right to boo the effort of college age kids. One can boo a play call if they like, one can boo a bad call by the zebras if they like, but to boo a college kid who is trying to execute is, in a word, wrong. I am positive that the kid who made a mistake knows that he made a mistake and doesn't need to hear booing to clue him in on that.

From the Warning System:

Bashing
You personally attacked a player, coach, recruit, or person of interest to the program or community. In order to receive this warning, it had to have gone above and beyond constructive criticism. Understand that players, recruits and their families read their threads on this site, and consider them when posting.
If anyone ever sees these types of posts on here, use the report bad post icon in the upper right corner.

We do not condone outright attacks on players, coaches, or especially recruits. Those who persist in breaking this policy will be banned without hesitation.

Buki....I'm just curious....why do they have a RIGHT to boo a kid?? are you talking freedom of speech here or something else??

Tell you what....when you have a kid i'll show up at his first soccer game and boo the hell out of him.....lets see what you think then....

If you boo a college kid you are better off spending your time trying to continue your legend status on college football video games...

News flash....when you are on the field at this level things happen at a speed you cannot even begin to imagine....no video game can begin to capture it...

Strohs- I love you too man. Alls I did was pretty much try to get you guys to realize that booing is just as bad what all of us fans do on here.

Honestly I've done this with alot of respect out of the posters .I didn't call one of you out, and I haven't got into any personal vendetas with any one. Besides the guy who obviously took a shot at me. Also now Strohs who also took a shot at me. I have an opinion that everyone is basically wrong and no one wants any part of it.... how typical of a fan who thinks their the perfect fan. I'm not, and neither of you are either.

oh8ch- very RIGHT! they have the right whether we like it or not. ass holes? YEs they are but hey what can we do? Some of us are ass holes on here? but hey what can we do? well besides get kicked off.

Alan-Actually if you put the Ncaa 2005 on Heisman you can get quite a challenge out of it you'd be surprised. Also I think I'm far better than a veteran in ps2 because I think I'm like 130-1 in 30 some odd years in my dynesty. Can't win them all when you simulate ya know haha lol. But seriously I know the effects booing can have on people because I played football throughout having bad anxiety. Its horrible you're right, but definatly something us fans shouldn't bash on because we all do it some time or another.

As for my kids at a soccer game quote alan-LIke I've stated I've been coaching football for 3 years now, and as you advance in levels the crowds get worse and worse. I've been at games where I've had people bitch me out and take their kids off the field (even though I'm in no control of a kids playing time) talk about inferior. I'm an assistant not a head coach. Sports has lots of things that sucks about it and if you think everything has to be a certain way then you're just not going to be happy with the end results.

How on earth, is talking about a player on here, the same as booing him???
You have to be kidding me.
Next time, before you post, take a minute to pull your head out of your ass.

Good point 21... I certainly never intended to imply that bashing would last long here.
Didn't take it that way at all D...

saw it more as an opportunity to let newbs know how we roll around here.

There were a few improper posts concerning players tonight...it needed to be nipped early so I thank you for the opening.
