Game Thread tOSU at Indiana - Oct 13, 8 ET, BTN

So as upset as I am about tonight on defense, can't say I am that surprised...at LB alone we have lost Dorian Bell, Scott Mcvey, Jamel Turner, Chad Hagan, Ejuan Price, Jordan Whiting, and Connor Crowell has been hurt most of his time here. Then we have Melvin Fellows, Willie Mobley, Shawntell Rowell, Keith Wells, Adam Bellamy, Jamie Wood, Newsome, Dominic Clarke, Daryl Baldwin, David Durham, Jeremy Cash, Chase Farris, and Kenny Hayes all gone from attrition that could be here on defense (a couple switched to offense).

That would explain why Indiana would hang 24 on us. It does not explain why Indiana hung 49 on us.

Now it's time to give Indiana some credit for one hell of a football game. Many of you may not agree with me, but Indiana is not a bad football team this year. They are a real team, and it showed tonight. They fought their hearts out and played a full 60 minutes, something Ohio State has not done all season. Props to them, they deserve it.

Relative to their standard, Indiana did well. That's about as much credit as I'm capable of giving.

Roby said this defense needs to wake up and realize it can't take plays or drives off

Brandon Castel ‏@BCastOZone
Roby said the defense looks up and see how many points the offense has on the board and they start to relax.

Brandon Castel ‏@BCastOZone
Roby even said guys on defense were laughing and joking around on the sideline before they gave up those last two touchdowns.

Coaches need to hold these guys accountable.

That does not paint a pretty picture...

On the contrary, it points to something that might be easily corrected with a boot up the ass, which sounds alot better than thinking we might be completely outclassed by Indiana's stockpile of offensive weapons.

Unfortunately the depth just isn't there to send a real message by taking away playing time.

Hopefully that will turn around with recruiting.

Yeah, but it sounds like Urban's going to have to make a lot of people very uncomfortable, both coaches and players. I can't believe Vrabel especially hasn't been in ears on the defense on a regular basis, and if his energy and hell-raising isn't getting across...maybe its a lack of respect or something that wouldn't be the case with Urban...I just have my doubts.

Look at games with Nathan Williams versus games without. I think it's as simple as Noah Spence just isn't ready.

The game was over before their last 2 TDs. We give up big plays, and today lots of points.....but there's the punt block, the terrible penalty calls, the ridiculous reviews. It wasn't that bad. It was bad.....just not that bad.

Ugh.

The defense absolutely shut it down after Hyde ran it in to make it 52-34.

The big plays need to stop, this defense gives them up way too much. It all comes down to discipline, as this team just seems to fluctuate between solid/disciplined and shaky. Poor attitude, poor effort, poor technique all lead to the "comeback" IU mounted.

APB for John Simon tonight.

However, 7-0 feel pretty sweet, it's time to get some goddamn revenge on those pieces of shit from Purdon't.

I fucking love being a Buckeye.

Throw a few expletives in there, and you have Buckeye fans reaction to the defense in this game.
