tOSU at Minnesota, Thurs. Sep 2nd, 8 ET on Fox

Was looking to bet Oregon to cover, but going to see how we look against Minny before hand. This is a rather young team at QB, backfield, LB and DB.
DB is actually fairly veteran but even so Minnesota doesn't have the skill at WR. You're right though that our LBs will need to step up for this game.

You can tell that Ryan Day also believes this is a tricky game because he talked a few times about how big and physical the Gophers are. If our front 7 takes over the Gophers have no shot but if it's a battle (which I think it will be) then this will be closer than we'd like.

Cardale said on a letterman row show today that he's worried considering how veteran Minny is and how the last 3 times we've played them it's been a close game every time. I couldn't agree more.

A terrible opening opponent but it is what it is.

Just talked to my ticket guy and he's setting me and the wife up for the game. Looking forward to the road trip!

Awesome! If you have time to grab a beer somewhere before the game, message me and join @bukIpower and I. As to the game, I like us in the trenches with our OL vs their DL. I think the offense is going to produce and can run the ball at will even if our QB has some first-game hiccups...not saying I think that is going to happen when our QB will have Olave, Wilson, JSN, Ruckert, etc. to throw to, but I think we could run the ball 80% of the time if needed and score plenty of points.

On the other side, I am a little worried on stopping Ibrahim...as bukipower pointed out, they have a stellar OL and the best RB we will probably see in the regular season, and I think they are going to pop off some runs early in the game. We do have some good vets on the DL like Garrett, Harrison, Ty Smith, Vincent, Jackson, Cage, etc., which makes me feel good. And you have to think JTT and Sawyer are going to shine early. But we need the DL to be super disruptive though because as much as I like our talent at LB and we have some guys who have been here awhile, we had a lot of departures there. I think by mid-season the LB situation is going to be nice (I am thinking a combo of Terjada, Simon, Eichenberg, Pope and Melton will get the job done), but the first game we might still be trying to figure everything out. The DB group I am cautiously optimistic will be improved and Minnesota's WR/TE positions after Bateman went pro shouldn't be too concerning...Autman-Bell is a solid WR, but they really don't have much beyond that unless someone breaks out this year. I am hoping we can sell out on stopping the run and limit them, but you just never know with the first game on the road on a Thursday night.

Man I don’t know what it is but I’m honestly not hyped about this season like I usually am. Feels like the last 3 out of 4 seasons have been slogs to follow, and 2019 ended in such a fashion that it nearly turned me off to the sport for good.
By this time of year I’d be rocking back and forth like a crack fiend counting down the days until kick off, scouring for every piece of Buckeye news I could. Now I’m questioning whether I even want to stay up for the opener.

Yeah i definitely can't relate! The last 4yrs for OSU:
2017- B1G champions and Cotton Bowl champions
2018- B1G champions and Rose Bowl champions
2019- B1G champions and lose in CFP Semi
2020- B1G champions and lose in CFP NC.

I dont know how any OSU fan can't be excited for this years team with the amount talent that has been assembled. And knowing that every year the team has progressed. 4 B1G championships, 2 NY6 Bowls and 2 CFP appearances. Idk of many fan bases that would not want those results. 1st world program problems I guess...

To be fair, on top of everything else, we had to endure the 'will they won't they play' and that alone was really rough. I can see it sapping a lot of joy.

Well, this is Kevin's walk-up song as B1G Commish, written by Sid Robbin, sung by Ella Fitzgerald, from October 28, 1938, it is "Undecided."

First you say you do
And then you don't
And then you say you will
And then you won't
You're undecided now
So what are you gonna do?

Now you want to play
And then it's no
And when you say you'll stay
That's when you go
You're undecided now
So what are you gonna do?

I've been sitting on a fence
And it doesn't make much sense
'Cause you keep me in suspense
And you know it

Don’t trust Kevin and the spineless. Will be glad when the ball is kicked on 9/2. Everyday I get more pessimistic.

We endured that AND STILL GOT TO THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! If your joy is sapped after pre-season drama, but we still won the conference, got to the CFP and then then the NC, then go root for Purdue or Nebraska. I don't know how fans can become so ungrateful when they root for schools with immense success. There are only 4-5 teams tops in all of CFP that have a chance at an NC every year now, and we still have fans complaining, good god:roll1:.
