Game Thread tOSU at Sparty - Sep 29, 3:30 ET, ABC

Post game .02:

Offense
-Miller was trying to do too much by himself in the first half but you can see him starting to slowly mature on that front and distribute the ball
-Sparty tried to bait him into throwing to the slot twice that I could see and he fell for it both times, luckily neither was a pick 6.
-He's growing as a QB and game manager, he's tough as nails and he won that damn game. Still a long way to go but if this is still the upward part of the curve I'll take it.
-The OL holy shit what a difference a year and a new coach makes.
-Backs and receivers continue to get better, no 3rd down drops I can recall off the top of my head. Philly Brown still trips over grass too much but they are getting better. What else can you say about Hyde and Hall?

Defense
-4 opponents in a row who's coaches have watched film and decided to not even try and run between the tackles on this defense.
-The downside is they continue to spread us out, take short drops/shot gun and hit quick passes to WR's while we play way off. It's maddening. 3rd down defense % is 35.8, good for 47th nationally.
-Pressure seems to be getting better although the MSU OL was a known sieve coming into the game.

All in all you have to be happy with the win but plenty left to improve on.

From what we've seen so far it looks like the teams left on the schedule that can hurt this defense the most are Nebraska, Purdue and to a lesser degree scUM. PSU and Illin have the types of offense to do it but I don't think they have the horses.

The good news is none of those teams has a defense anywhere near as good as Sparty.

P.S. That fucking bastard #66 from MSU better get suspended. Cocksucker.

The final drive to ice the game was pure awesome. Seems like in the past in those situations we would "Dave" three times for two yards barely bleeding any clock (assuming the opponent had their timeouts to burn), punt, then have to pray the defense held on one last time. Granted, the defense usually did hang on to get the win. But how nice to not have to leave it up to them! Great job by the o-line and Hyde.

Mundane chatter corrupting the the sacred viewing zone during an intense Ohio State game should be a criminal offense. I don't know how espin gets away with it, let alone house guests.

I know it's the thing to hate them now (hell even I don't like them)...but before we complain about grown men dressing up for a game, Neutron Man also did it.

He wore a jersey, a flat cap, and a Buckeye necklace. If you didn't know who he was, he would not have stuck out one bit. On top of all of that, he wasn't mugging for the cameras. He sat at the top of A/B deck doing his thing until the band guys started playing Neutron Dance. I was too young to know how it all came about, but from what I know him and his wife simply liked to dance when the band played. This was well before tv was a regular thing.

BTW...as "superfans" go, it could be worse. Ohio State could have this guy.

For those that don't know, that is Johnny Spirit. If you have been to a MSU game you have seen him going all over the stadium. From all reports he is a super creeper. Lives with his mom near campus, rides around on his bike with his camera all year long, and is well, downright "creepy." Some of the stories about him are disturbing.

Well having got to actually WATCH this one (my 2nd this year) on the Sat TV here in Ukraine I was much happier than I was with the 1st (Cal).

Came for the mail order brides & stayed for the borsch?

Oh Wah!, complaining about how fans choose to support the team. Give me a break. If these guys and other want to dress up more than you or I do then live with it. Or go complain to your mom about her cooking for God's sake. They probably complain about the way you sit on your hands when the team isn't doing good. :bonk:

Using The Ohio State University to line their pockets isn't supporting the team. It's supporting themselves at the expense of others.

I know Neutron man did a lot for the band especially, but I'm not going to assume these guys, while attention whores, aren't doing anything.
I don't recall Neutron man harassing tailgaters and random fans asking them if he wanted their signature, and I definitely don't remember him charging for the luxury like the caped one.

Buck-I-Guy (John Chubbs) will be happy to sell you tickets for twice face value, that's certainly something. :so:
