Should be a great spring visitor list. An interesting development (one that I felt belonged in the general recruiting thread) is the amount of Ohio kids getting offers, as well as some lower rated OOS kids. Could be that there is more talent in Ohio than in years past, or that we are making sure we have a wide net on offers in case we miss on higher rated guys like last cycle. Part of it is also probably numbers being there and having more flexibility.

It is super early for this class obviously but I am curious to see what the commits look like by the end of the summer...just seems to be a very deliberately different approach than in years past under Day. Might be exactly what is needed and maybe a proper response to criticism on recruiting more Ohio kids and having more contingency plans if we miss on the big national recruits.

What I hope that trend is not is an NIL failure and/or losing our national appeal...I don't think there is really a concern yet, I just perceive an altered recruiting strategy with respect to targeting recruits that will be interesting to see play out and if we have gone back to "offers" as opposed to "OFFERS". We have several offers out now (capitalized or otherwise) that I do not believe are commitable, or at least that is my read. For example, I think the Armstrong twins can commit without question, both are legit and are developing into their frames. Nave and Dixon I am not so sure on and I could name quite a few others in that category both from Ohio and OOS. Will be a very interesting ride in the '24 class.

Great minds think alike, because I was coming to this thread to post about the higher number of OH offers as well. From my read, I believe that OSU is going to try and sign a larger class than usual and could be 25+, filled with mainly OH kids, sprinkled with national recruits. Day(and Pantoni) has shown how he will go after NIL, and though they will still offer top recruits, it doesn't seem like they're going to waste time if NIL is their primary interest. What also helps with this strategy is that OH in '24 has an uptick in talent that the past few years didn't have. I think a large percentage of the OH recruits have OFFERS, and Birm has even stated that Nave and Dixon have the green light to commit when they're ready. I think there is a hard list of OH recruits who have already been offered, and a good number more they want to see in person before they offer

Been saying that Ohio kids need to be offered in this 24 class with the NIL, transfer portal, etc that we need a base and can reach to get 50% of the class as Ohio kids for just this class.

Something else to keep in mind, a lot of kids in this class likely haven’t hit the camp circuit yet or very little, with COVID restrictions, so a lot likely haven’t been evaluated to the extent that other classes have. I can see a ton of changes in the recruiting sites after this spring/summer camps and then especially with senior film. Just my thoughts

Birm echoed this sentiment when someone questioned why OSU would take the commitment from a 3star OL like Nave. He said that Nave hasn't even hit the camp circuit, has great athleticism, and if he weren't from Toledo and had more limelight, he would've easily been a 4star

Final Ranking: 3-star, .8735

4. QB CARDALE JONES, FORK UNION, VA./FORK UNION MILITARY ACADEMY (AND CLEVELAND GLENVILLE)

Final Ranking: 3-star, .8704

3. DB TYVIS POWELL, BEDFORD, OHIO/BEDFORD

First Ohio kid with an tOSU offer that chose UX from what I hear/read. So far, Urban, Day, have 'upgraded' from the one that got away. Can't say with certainty that that upgrade proved out to be better on the field, but on paper anyway...NIL may not be the first or second need/want by the recruit, but certainly plays into the recruiting. I'd ask to see the list of what positions get what or how much. go Bucks!

Kyle Kalis was actually the 1st OH kid with an OSU offer who chose scUM, and Dymonte Thomas can also be added to that list.
But I honestly have no clue what the rest of your post even means

And again, OSU is in a much better spot as a program than scUM, I know many don't like to hear that after the last 2 losses, but if you watch the CFP this past year, you can't tell me with a straight face that you envision scUM being competitive on a national landscape. OSU took the best team in the country down to the wire, while scUM lost to a team who looked like a deer in headlights in the NC
