2020 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Currently, Julian Fleming is the #4 all time highest rated recruit that Ohio State has ever landed and Paris Johnson ranks 6th. Bijan Robinson would come in at #25 and if Ohio State flips Ricks, which I personally believe they will, he would tie for 13th all time. So that would give Ohio State its 4th, 6th, 13th, and 25th all time recruits in one class! Pretty incredible.

To add to it, Zach Harrison (15) and Garrett Wilson (23) both rank in the top 25, as well. So Ohio State could potentially land 6 of its top 25 recruits of all time in back to back classes. Amazing when you consider just how many great players have come through the program.
#s 9, 10, 11 and 12 are also on the current roster.

BTW. They were talking about a hard cap at 25 for the year on Morning Five today.
I figured we might go over 25 given the amount of talent still on the board, plus the grey shirt of our kicker.

Anyone else hearing that we're going to hard cap at 25 recruits this class?

Yes, per Birm on Letterman's Row just yesterday.

It will technically be 26 minus the gray shirt kicker

so 6 to go and it looks like 3 of those are spoken for with Robinson, Latham and the APB from FL (name escapes me)

leaves 3 more for guys like Kourt Williams, Ricks if he can be flipped, a last minute DL stud and/or, now apparently, a 2nd QB.

I was under the impression that was already the rule last year, and then Bama, Clemson, aTm, and a few other went over it. So I don't know hoe that works exactly. Maybe like the speed limit. It's 65 but we won't pull you over until you go over 74...

Cool, thanks. Who's the potential 2nd QB you've heard about btw? First time I'm hearing that.

Grey shirts and early enrollment allow you to go over the limit.
That is the way it has always worked as I understand it.

The rule was a hard 25 "initial counters" - which means any player who starts his playing career during the academic year.

Perhaps schools were getting around it with kids who signed but never joined the team. If that was happening and is being eliminated hallelujah.

It's a good question and one I pointed out on another board. I couldn't understand how Alabama has recruited 18 more players than anyone else over the past 4 years given the rules.
That's an entire recruiting class. Early Eligibility, Processing, and Medical was essentially the answers given to me.

So we have 6 more spots. Robinson, Knighton, and Ransom appear to be set in permanent marker. Kourt Williams is getting close to that level too. That leaves 2 more... could we get Ricks and maybe Broughton? That’s the dream scenario. Wow, what a class that would be for Day.
I'd love for us to get Robinson, Knighton, Ransom, and Ricks then wait for the final 2 spots.

Go after the elites all out like Ringo or wait for kids to reopen their recruitment when their coaches get fired/leave.

No need to reach on anyone at this point. Besides, with our elite class its going to be a huge draw to join.

I honestly believe we can flip a few elites with a great year.
