2025 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

To me that's the real test for a recruiting class. Remember when the SEC had 28-35 recruits committed, and handily won the mythical recruiting trophy? When you peel the onion a bit, one sees that the avg recruiting # per class is low 90's. Still won the title, but guess I'd prefer to have the higher ranked higher avg recruit ranking. PS, that doesn't include the non-mythical GPA of the class. Had that been included, heck the average of all three measures, the outcomes might have been vastly different. tOSU, keep getting the best you can at each position, while looking for 'fit' of the recruit. Go Bucks! great job pnuts!

OHIO STATE

Winston Watkins Jr.

Winston Watkins Jr.
More quality than quantity for Ohio State, but the Buckeyes' presence continues to show in the Sunshine State. Of course the Rivals Camp in Miami featured a loaded wide receiver group and many of the Brian Hartline targets in 2025 and well beyond mentioned the program among favorites. It starts with
Vernell Brown III
, who could be trending to the program as the in-state programs battle towards the official visit season. The highest-ranked wideout, going into the event, is
Winston Watkins
and he is back in Columbus as of this writing.

Of course the Buckeyes are eyeing two of the best in the 2026 class, among others.
Kayden Dixon-Wyatt
made the trip all the way from California, to compete, and the program is in the thick of his national recruitment. It may be even further along for
Jabari Brady
, another top 50 rising-junior, as programs could be chasing Ryan Day’s program following a late March return trip to Columbus. The youngest headliner on hand, 2028 quarterback
Neimann Lawrence
, said the Buckeyes are among his dream programs after recently taking in the campus.

HEAT CHECK: THREE NEW NAMES CRACK OHIO STATE'S RECRUITING BOARD, WHILE THREE FIVE-STAR PROSPECTS SIT AT THE TOP

146723_h.jpg

Spring football has come and gone.

Since the last edition of the Heat Check, Ohio State has landed five new commits, bringing the Buckeyes’ total to 13 for the 2025 cycle. Two targets from last month’s board, Tarvos Alford and London Merritt, are now members of the class. Between that and some other adjustments based on how the spring went, we have three new names on this month’s board.

As always, rankings for Eleven Warriors’ monthly recruiting editorial have no perfect formula but are based on a combination of many factors, including roster needs for the Buckeyes in future seasons, the caliber of the player and how likely that player is to come to Columbus on National Signing Day.
