Game Thread tOSU @ Virginia Tech, Sep 7 2015 @ 8pm ET, ESPN

Good game Buckeyes, you guys have one hell of a team. It really sucked having Brewer get injured while he was playing pretty well, but it's part of the game. Unfortunately we don't have Heisman candidates on the bench, and instead have to rely on the Motley shitshow... :smash:

I still need to re-watch the game when I get home, but a few impressions from inside the stadium-

1) Cardale Jones is an absolute beast. The guy looked indestructible and I was impressed at how composed he was. He was taking a lot of punishment but handled it well and made some great plays under pressure.

2) Braxton Miller looks like Percy Harvin 2.0. I knew he was a great athlete, but I can't believe how natural he looked at receiver and in the open field. I wouldn't be surprised to see him and Elliot sitting next to each other in New York as Heisman finalists.

3) I was pleasantly surprised with VT's offense, pre-injury. Brewer seems to thrive on the spotlight and looked like he was going to keep this close the whole game. Unfortunately our running game was garbage due to our top 2 running backs are out with injury/suspension, and JC Coleman just isn't going to cut it as a featured back. It would have been nice to have better balance but we just don't have the personnel right now.

4) And on the other hand, our defense was a disappointment. I'll cut them some slack considering that tOSU looks like a historically great offense, but I was hoping for them to carry the team. However, I still expect them to fare much better throughout the ACC schedule when they're not facing that buzzsaw anymore.

I was impressed with VTech's D... think they lived up to expectations and billing.
DLine spent a lot of time in the backfield... it's just hard to bring Cardale down, and Brax' moves are sick.
Fuller was doing a really good job locking Thomas down until that move too... but that's the nature of that sort of aggressive D -- star players will get theirs once or twice a game. It's high risk high reward gamble.
VTech's D forced more punts than expected and defended the called plays pretty well -- a lot of the gains were either broken plays or just balls placed where even good coverage can't do much. Eze's run, Miller's catch, and Thomas' catch were the exceptions.

Seems like Motley is more of a runner/athlete than a pocket guy... with a couple weeks against Furman and Purdue, maybe enough time to retool the offensive gameplan for his strengths ? Brewer should be back in time for GTech -- maybe as soon as Duke?

OK, all joking aside...I wore my 2010 Rose Bowl Champion T-shirt tonight. You motherfuckers better figure out your lucky [Mark May]. This is a group effort. We are the 10th unit and better have your lucky underwear on or fuck you....

I thought the moms were the 10th unit, that would make us fans the 11th, unless that's the coaches, which would make us the 12th man ***** sued by aTm ******

So, did I order this too soon?
shopping
It's never wrong to support womens volleyball. My friends and I were HUGE fans of ga tech's team when we were there. Sadly that was long before Nicki Meyer was on the team.

It is not wrong to support volleyball. I guess it's an inside joke to those who were here during the Penn state game. Over at bwi said things along the lines of: At least penn state dominates volleyball.
