06/06/15 - soon? ...... Dytarious Johnson - still officially committed but expected to depart by most UM fans.

I don't believe Michigan "lost" any of these guys, though Jordan Elliott could be the first.

Roster management and pulling scholarships is a staple of today's brand of college football and OSU is no stranger to either. That said, like most things in recruiting, Harbaugh has turned it up to another level.

They are still recruiting Viramontes. His dad said Harbaugh calls him daily. I really liked that kids tape too.

Yes I read that late afternoon yet too. He's being kept warm if others fall through, which is why Sam Webb said it was not likely but never say never. He is also a much more talented and versatile recruit. He made sense when he verbals unlike the parade of name recruits that harbaugh seemingly filled up his class with.

I knew that Harbaugh was blameless in this matter. One need look no further than the comments section of Greenstein's article:

Michael Villani
Johnny Castle This kid was told a year ago by Michigans coaches to start looking elsewhere as they had soured on hin as he did nto fit the current scheme as Harbaugh did nto recruit him. He was also told if he was still set on attending Michigna then hhe would need to attend one of their clicnics to work on his weaknesses, which he refused to do. He was then told he would more than likely have to walkon as there would be no scholarship for him.

Coach: Michigan didn't tell Erik Swenson to consider other options until early January

Mark Molinari, Swenson's prep coach at Downers Grove South in Illinois, says Michigan offensive line coach Tim Drevno called in early January to tell him that Swenson should take other official visits.

"Coach Drevno called and said 'we're going to encourage Erik to take his five visits,'" Molinari said Friday evening. "I asked him specifically 'Are you pulling his offer?' The answer was 'No, we just want to continue to feel each other out.' I said 'Coach, are you pulling his offer?' and the answer was no.

"He was never told (in the fall) that you're being re-evaluated. We wouldn't have put ourselves in this position (if he was). Erik didn't have any official visits to go on and he hadn't gone any because he hadn't planned on going anywhere but the University of Michigan."

The only question has been how many of the Shirtless Jim Harbaugh summer tour kids will be cut...

DB Richardson the latest to decommit from U-M

Richardson, 6 feet and 165 pounds, was a mostly unknown cornerback whom U-M coaches liked at a Summer Swarm satellite camp in south Florida. They offered him a scholarship soon after, and he accepted.

Sad news for the kid, but IIRC this was predicted when he accepted...

Your guess is as good as mine. I don't have time to dig through the archives for it, but I'm 99% sure there was a discussion around this kid not making it into the class and being dropped for higher rated recruits.
A number of these kids have been pegged as impending departures for awhile according to their insiders. They were seat fillers until Michigan caliber recruits could be secured.

Why fill the spot with someone unworthy? That's a good question, especially since it was about half of the class at the time. A select few were good sleeper prospects (viramontes). A few were solid prospects. A lot of them were major reaches and easily pegged that way.

A lot of the lower ranked kids from that Southern tour have higher-ranked teammates in the 17-18 classes. There was talk that taking the '16 sleepers would be a way to build relationships at those schools. We'll see how these high school coaches react. If Dadbaughd can with next year with the class he signs, it won't matter who he's pissed off. Partridge is certainly earning his keep...he should have Finotti's salary as well. Not one Ohio kid?
