ttun Shenanigans and Arguments (2015 official thread)

The link is in your own article you posted. Not much else to say at this point because UM can't comment on the situation officially because he's a recruit. Of course his coach is going to back him. I don't expect peeps on an osu message board to take the side of UM, much like I'm sure you don't expect me to take the side of Swenson. It's he said he said right now, but the only actual person that can talk to the media is Swenson and his team. So again, 48 hours later he's got CB predictions to Wisconsin. People were saying the timing was so awful there was no way he would have time to reopen his recruiting. He's going to probably end up at freaking Wisconsin. I'd say his backup plan isn't to shabby.

The link I posted supports your position that Swenson "spun a tale"? Ridiculous. That link makes the UM staff look like a bunch of liars.

Probably not with all the new info that has come to light. Glad he will probably end up at Wiscy, but the tale he spun about being blindsided is weak at best now

I ask again: What was the new information that has come to light that shows that the tale he spun about being blindsided is weak at best now"?

No, it supports the notion that there's two sides to the story. Good luck to him in the future. Wiscy is a good landing spot.

Harbaugh=Coward

The MLive article clearly states that Swenson coach was told 3 weeks ago he still had an offer. Harbaugh and staff play the "lets not talk to the kid and maybe they will get the hint" game. They did it at Stanford and they are doing it at Michigan.

Man up and tell the kid where he stands.

And if you don't think the Michigan staff is spinning this story to Sam Webb and John Bacon, you are stupider than I thought. And that is saying something.

When this is one side of the story:

"Coach Drevno called and said 'we're going to encourage Erik to take his five visits,'" Molinari said Friday evening. "I asked him specifically 'Are you pulling his offer?' The answer was 'No, we just want to continue to feel each other out.' I said 'Coach, are you pulling his offer?' and the answer was no.

then you only think there's another side is if you have your head buried so far in the sand that you think encouraging to take other visits trumps the black-and-white statement by Drevo that the offer is NOT being pulled.

This, of course, is only one act of classlessness when it comes to Swenson. I note that neither you nor any other Michigan fan that I've seen is willing to address why Harbaugh couldn't reach out to Swenson personally when the offer was pulled, but rather had to hide behind his Twitter account. A phone call to break the news would've taken a few minutes. But Harbaugh, evidently, couldn't be bothered to show a little class.

Bigger picture, Michigan fans have reached head-in-the-sand levels in justifying Harbaugh's various acts (including the Swenson saga, acting like a completely unhinged fool on the sidelines, taking thinly-veiled shots at high school players and opposing coaches on Twitter, etc., to say nothing of the instances of ridiculousness he's gotten himself into prior to returning to Ann Arbor) that I have not seen since I was appalled by Penn State fans defending Joe Paterno.

So congratulations, Michigan fans--the rest of the college football world is laughing and now views you in a similar light as to how it viewed Penn State fans.

Michigan fan reads Michigan boards with Michigan insiders with Michigan sources inside of the Michigan football program. Michigan source inside of Michigan football program tells Michigan insider that Jesus did nothing wrong. Michigan insider tells Michigan fan reading his Michigan board that Jesus did nothing wrong. Michigan fan thinks he's intelligent and goes on to tell Ohio state fans that it's obvious what's going on, they've heard it from sources.

Is that an accurate summary?

Sorry for being so dense but what does your mention of Harbaugh's Twitter account refer to?

Michigan likes to win. Others do it too. These day underperforming kids are forced out frequently , before signing day and after enrolling . Those are the other sides of the story.

The media has their usual tunnel vision. Swenson could have been one of the two very justifiable pulled scholarships along with DeWeaver. Instead they were vague and left the kid out to dry at the last minute.

None of that does anything to explain away the 7 other discarded verbals of kids offered by Harbaugh, a list that is expected to grow by at least two more.

They want to win and keep pace with the others. Ethics and stand up behavior are not usually found at the highest levels of college football, especially recruiting. That's the story here. And it's true at Alabama, who has already begun jettisoning verbals heading into their absurd recruiting weekend with eight 5 stars and a host of other supers.

Both sides use and abuse each other. Kids know it happens, they just tend to be arrogant or naive about it. Usually they are much classier than the fans or coaches who view it with emotions.

But harbaugh absolutely deserves to be lampooned for this behavior given his penchant for erecting laughable high horses to take pot shots at others over underhanded methods in recruiting. He had the audacity to do it this week, as though he didn't also dump a pile of recruits not named erik.
