UFC 71: Chuck Liddell vs. Quinton Jackson

I don't know if the fight should've been stopped there, but the UFC has a new Light Heavyweight champion either way.....
can't see that enough. It was a good stopage, Liddell never got his hands up to protect his head and his arms were laying out flat. He asked his trainer what happened as soon as he got up and sat on the stool.

I've seen it go both ways honestly....sometimes they'll let the guy get more than a couple seconds to do that....but that's neither here nor there.....

I don't really follow the UFC anymore....

When he was on the ground and his hands fell flat, that is automatic stoppage for the sake of the fighters health. If you saw the instant replay after that you would easily see it needed to be stopped.

It's kind of disapointing to see it stopped like that. I know you have to stop it because Liddell could have really gotten hurt if he took any more open shots to the head like that, but both guys had barely been worn out and could have gone a lot longer.

I guess its more unfortunate than anything (especially because I was rooting for Liddell), but I know most of us would have wanted to see a longer fight and more action.

Yes it was disappointing to see the fight stopped that early, if only because we paid good money to see the fight. As for Liddell's health/future, he better be glad that fight was stopped when it was. Saying that Liddell had barely been worn out and could have gone a lot longer is wishful thinking at best, and shows that you were rooting for him. I saw all the action I needed to see to know that Rampage was going to win that fight no matter what. I don't think most people tuned in to see one fighter or the other get their face pummeled into the canvas, which was about to happen if not for McCarthy.
