Review so far?
Am enjoying it. There is tons to do. Its a bit light in terms of the side-quests being largely all fetch quests, and the game has enough collectibles as it is, but the great combat mechanics offset any complaints about the story or pacing. Its going to take me a month to figure out the layout of Hogwarts. It's so damn hard to navigate. I'd never played a game before this one where I needed to use fast travel inside the building I was already in.

It is true to the films though... You attend every class once, for five minutes, then learn everything else you need outside the classroom while your teachers try to help you survive.

The game does have a morality system, and it is possible to learn Imperio, Crucio, and Avada Kedavra.

I am also playing Hogwart's Legacy. It's really good. Happy Skyrim. With less random side quests. Best way I can describe it as someone who isn't really a Harry Potter person (I like the movies and read the books, but I am not obsessive about it).

But yeah it's the one of the best single player RPGs I've played in a while. The characters are phenomenal, the voice acting is excellent, the gameplay (especially combat) is both rewarding and fun. Loving it. And I just got my broom.. so I've barely scratched the surface.

Should point out that Hogwarts Legacy is strictly a single player game, and you can’t play Quidditch (the season was cancelled).

My guess is online multiplayer duels, Battle Royales, and Quidditch all come in a multiplayer expansion DLC later.

On the plus side, you get a broom and access to flying mounts early in the story, in terms of gameplay hours if you postpone taking all the Character/Relationship side quests, so it never feels like you’re just grinding mats for XP to unlock free access to the world.

Also enjoy that this has free Transmog from the gear menu. You don’t have to go to a place to customize your look when you’re stuck with a bunch of ridiculous mismatched and comedic gear.

This game is big (>80 Gb) with very rich graphics, long render distances, and it utilizes all 16 buttons of the PS5 controller plus both analog sticks. I cannot imagine how this will be ported to the Switch and be remotely close to the same experience.

I love the Switch. We have two in our household and over 20 games plus loads of retro console downloads. But it wasn’t built to handle Hogwarts Legacy.

Took about 73 hours to 100% all story objectives and challenges, but it’s finally done.

I’ve not 100% all collections yet, as I’m missing three Revelio pages in Hogwarts and one Collections Chest. I cannot fucking find them anywhere, which is super frustrating because the overworld map has a checklist for every zone.
