Also just finished this one, "Annihilation", the first in the Southern Reach Trilogy by Jeff Vandermeer that came out last year:

Woah. Really weird and awesome book about an expedition into the mysterious Area X. Next up is "Authority", which is supposed to have a completely different tone.

Hornung: Interesting bio.

Black and Blue: Relive the 1966 baseball season (and many news stories that year). I graduated from high school in 1966. Also, makes Bill DeWitt look bad for trading Robinson. Goes in detail about Koufax's elbow medical problems.

I recently finished The Family Corleone (prequel to The Godfather).
good read. only complaint is that the gap in timeline between this book ending and The Godfather starting is a bit too long.

also just finished Heavier than Heaven (biography of Kurt Cobain).

Read these three books the last couple weeks:

Kurt Angle: Some good WWE behind the scenes stuff.

Harry Carson: Great book...besides his biography (i.e. poor southern black kid), it deals with the "dark side" of the NFL, i.e. serious injuries, etc. Among other numerous injuries, he suffers from Post Concussion Syndrome. Where as most former NFL players with disabling injuries admit if they would do it over they would. He says that if he knew the potential for brain injuries back then he wouldn't. However, he admits that if it weren't for football he never would have been able to go (and graduate from) college.

John Daly: What everybody already knows he was addicted to basically almost everything (except drugs); i.e. alcohol, cigarettes, gambling, food, and sex.

Ray Bradbury's The Halloween Tree:

The+Halloween+Tree.jpg

It was a fun, quick read (on October 31), with a mysterious character taking a bunch of boys back through time to see the origins of each of their costumes - all the usual Halloween tropes - and linking them together as part of man's ongoing effort to ward off the darkness when autumn comes.
