Did anybody else see this? AJ Pierzynski collided with Michael Barrett at the plate (since they're both catchers, I should mention that Pierzynski was the baserunner and Barrett was the one blocking the plate). Pierzynski won the collision, scored the run, and as both players got up, Pierzynski went for his batting helmet. Barrett, apparently pissed off, grabbed a hold of Pierzynski and delivered a right hook to his jaw. As I saw this, I thought to myself, "this is the coolest thing I've seen in a baseball game since this:"

I thought the way it was handle afterward was very poor.

The umps ejected the baserunner, who was the guy that got punched, and didn't do anything. He even walked away once the whole brawl started.

But didn't eject the catcher who threw the punch, at first.

They then decided to eject the catcher, but still ejected the baserunner.

Gotta love the fans turning on their beloved Cubbies.

They turned a long time ago...they have a few players that become lifetime "saints" as it were, and they basically boo everyone else...and that's when they're winning. We were at Wrigley friday...pathetic, and that was a lot less bad than today. Can't say I blame them for being frustrated though...it isn't every day that "The Human Blown Save" Ryan Dempster has you pining for the glory days of...LaTroy Hawkins.

Wish they would have beaten up Cliff Politte (why didn't they hit him? everyone else does)...it would have closed a huge hole in the bullpen :smash:

You will not see him in a white sox uniform anymore, he is DFA'd (designated for assignment).

After this weekends wonderful display of pitching by the whole staff, I would expect to see some moves before the deadline. Garcia is the first one to go, he has no velocity anymore.

at this point they are all worrying me. who's the last one that had a solid outing? the last win was against boston but 'cont got bailed out he was losing when he left. you have to go all the way back to 'cont's start on july 4th when they won 13-0. I'm not panicing by any means but i would feel a lot better if they picked it up a few notches.
