From what I have read and heard it was a great game. This is what they needed, a great performance by the pitching staff. The offense scored early and often which gave Garland the confidence he needed.

Hopefully Javier comes out with the same mentality tonight. If he can stay away from the big inning he should do fine.

Glad to see he decided to be his typical self and blow the game with one freakin inning. Ship his ass out.

Its seems to be Ozzie's formula to stick with his starters, but when Detroit had the bases loaded and that player (forget his name) hit that hard foul ball that could have been a GS I would have brought in Bmac. He was already warm. Just count your lucky stars that wasn't a GS and take him out. Instead they stick with him and he gives up a run then two batters later he gives up a GS. I don't get it.

This team doesn't seem to have the balls of last year's in the big games. I don't know, maybe that's just me, but they can beat up the Royals and Orioles and put 15 or 20 up on the bottom-feeders, but when the big games against Detroit come up, they just don't seem to have that same swagger. Mark isn't pitching inside or keeping the ball out of the zone enough, Javier pitches well for 5/6 or 6/7 innings, but gives up the crooked number seemingly every time, Garcia can still go for a long time, but they're behind seemingly every time he leaves...good thing Garland is coming around, because they'd be in real trouble if he wasn't. Contreras is still really good, and the bullpen will be fine, but the starters need to be better, or it's going to be a longer second half than last year.
