Wisconsin cancels football game vs. Nebraska after outbreak of COVID-19 cases

As of Wednesday morning, 12 people within the program had tested positive for the coronavirus in the past five days. That total includes six student-athletes and six staff members, including head coach Paul Chryst.

Just sayn': Makes you wonder who the "Typhoid Mary" was that (possibly) broke the COVID-19 protocall, got infected, and infected the others, i.e. a player, a staffer, or the head coach.

Hopefully Cheese is the only B1G school with infected players. Let's hope they didn't infect the Illinois team.

If Cheese gets 3 games cancelled they my not be eligible for the B1G Conference Championship Game.

Clemson, the SEC and the B12 will have mobile refrigerated morgues outside their stadiums before they give up on a season. The only real question is will the B1G be part of it.

Basically. Some people are laughing right now, and others are mad at Warren (rightfully so), but cases are surging everywhere. Unless you go almost nowhere and just practice with your team, cases are going to pop up and more games will be canceled or rescheduled in every conference.

Waiting so long to start playing when there was a predicted surge now never made sense, but here we are. Just gotta hope everyone stays healthy from here on out, and OSU gets their games in.

Still don't understand why the CFP doesn't push things back another 2-4 weeks, but I think they might be forced to in the end anyway.

Besides the difficulty of getting all the Power 5 conference commissioners and school presidents to agree on anything, I'm guessing that so far it is due to TV contracts (i.e. the money).

The CFP games are currently going forward as scheduled, with the Rose Bowl Game and Sugar Bowl serving as the semifinals on Jan. 1, 2021 and the national championship game on Jan. 11.

The Rose Bowl people have already cancelled the annual Rose Bowl Parade so there is really no reason the Rose Bowl needs to be played on Jan 1 either. As long as there are open dates at the venues (i.e. Rose Bowl, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and Raymond James Stadium) the CFP games could (fairly) easily be bumped back a couple weeks. With the number of cancelled/postponed games and the lack of available open dates for rescheduling, pushing the CFP games back 2-4 weeks does make a lot of sense.

True, I assumed that's what it was. Yeah, shouldn't be too difficult now without the parade, and it'll just depend on how they factor in how many schools will be eligible and how much higher the ratings will go.

Of course it made sense. It was the logical way that Michigan's governor could do her part to destroy normalcy before the election. Michigan deserves every bad thing anyone has ever said about it and we should throw the state out of the union before firebombing it all.
