So, because you don't like the sport, it's meaningless? Soccer's the most popular sport in the world, in case you weren't aware.

If they were televising a baseball game that actually meant something, then I wouldn't really care, but the WBC is just another MLB marketing scheme.

Fucking ESPN. They won't cut away from the Panama-Cuba game to show the USA game.

Like we need another reason to hate 'em.

it may be the most popular sport in the world but it's not in the united states. look at the major league they started over here, does it still exist? j/k but i live in columbus where there is a team and you never hear anything about it. baseball is infinitely more popular than soccer in the united states. showing a european soccer game over here would be the equivalent of them showing an nfl game in europe, some people would be interested but many would think it's meaningless. baseball is the national pasttime and surely will draw greater ratings than a foreign soccer game.

damn, that's a solid lineup for team USA. i wonder how nervous reds fans are with griff playing. as a tribe fan, i was happy when cc opted out. if it were a position player(w/o griff's injury history) i wouldn't care but i would worry about a pitcher. of course cabrera's pitching for puerto rico but i don't mind b/c he's getting an opportunity to close games.

I know baseball's more popular than soccer in the U.S., doesn't mean I still can't be pissed that they're showing an "international" competition that I fail to see the purpose of over a soccer game involving my favorite team.
