WR Ray Small (official thread)

I like how Clay Mathews responds by saying, "Coach Carroll does a great job of getting people excited about football." That's one way to try and deffend your program, just add too the point made by Small.

Hell, we need to get our players to get excited about playing football

Ray is making plays. He needs the ball more than Hartline and Robo and Sanz.

The probelm was getting any of them the ball. Maybe Ray got better separation, I'm not ready to throw in the towel on the others though. Get the QB some protection and watch the yardage start to pile up.

Probably back where he feels comfortable, the dog house.

Just thought it strange since he's been the most productive WR of the group so far this season and had a big punt return TD.

This conversation is probably better suited for the Mill, but something must've happened with him this week.

Oh yea; gosh i remember that one now; its 3rd down; well put Ray in for the reverse... aint gonna see that one coming....

this is a different board altogether, but after hearing the stuff from the SC players and some of the play calling i saw today, i got embarrassed a little sometimes.

I think it's nothing personal against Ray, but I think Tressel has had it with the upperclassmen being unproductive. Yes, Ray has scored on a punt. Yes, Ray hasn't done that bad as a WR this year. In saying that though I think tressel wants to see the Posey's, Washington's, Sanzo's, and Thomas' of the team have a chance now.

Tressel being sick of upperclassmen not producing would not have resulted in Ray being benched. He is one of the upperclassmen who has been productive. And it's not as if we saw Washington, Posey and Thomas because Ray was on the bench. We saw the same Robo and Hartline combo (and some Dane) we've been seing with Ray not even returning punts. I think it's pretty clear he did something off the feld that put him back in the doghouse. Most likely something little (mouthing off in practice, being late to practice) that just added to the list of recent issues.
