WR/RB Lamaar "Flash" Thomas (transfer to New Mexico)

Congrats to Lamaar on his decision! Obviously I'm excited at the potential for him to also run track.

He ran a 10.63 to win the MD class 3A 100M championship. That time would have won any of the other divisions by at least .1 as well. He also ran a 10.64 in the prelims.

At regionals he ran:

1st Round: 10.50
2nd Round: 10.60
Finals: 10.40

The Maryland 3A record for the 100m was 10.61 while the overall record was 10.44.

He also won the regional 200m with a time of 21.30. He ran a 21.54 for the State prelims but finished second in the finals with a 21.93 (the winning time was 21.88)

He ran a 6.41 55m at the State Indoor 2A/3A meet (the previous 3A record was 6.44) in a very competitive race where the top four finishers ran a 6.50 or better.

---To put it into perspective a bit Brandon Saine's Ohio State record 100m time is 10.38 and the fastest time ever run at the Ohio State championships is a 10.50, also by Brandon (Teddy's top 100 time is often quoted as 10.5 but I have no idea where or when that number comes from).

BuckeyeGrove.com - Video feature: Thomas picks Ohio State

Fort Washington (Md.) four-star athlete Lamaar Thomas ended his recruitment when he committed to Ohio State on October 18th. Thomas is the 12th commitment for Ohio State's 2008 recruiting class. Rivals.com AMP had the chance to see Thomas in action against Potomac high school, check out this exclusive footage and listen to what Lamaar had to say about his pledge to the Buckeye's in this video feature.

Continued...

Love seeing him dice up some winged helmets...plus the kid will probably be happy just to not have to play in a dust bowl anymore...

Great free update that everyone should check out...

The front page lists him at 5'10" 166, but I've seen elsewhere that he's 5'11" 175. The thing is that after watching that video wade put up, there's no way he's that small. He looks solid- no string bean Kyle Jefferson stature.

Real easy to see the talent he posesses. Can't wait to see what Butch, Hazell, and our S&C program can do to him. Must say I was loving seeing him take that direct snap from shotgun and what he said about Pryor

Friendly standout to play for Ohio State
by Robert Klemko | Special to The Gazette

After months of speculation, Friendly High School football standout Lamaar Thomas revealed to ESPN viewers last week his decision to play football at Ohio State University.

Thomas, Rivals.com?s top-ranked senior in the state, resisted the urge to stay close to home in choosing the Buckeyes over Maryland and Illinois.
??Maryland was in my top three because I didn?t want to leave home, but I started to feel like I wanted to be my own person and finally get away,? Thomas said.

Friendly?s all-purpose playmaker was sold on the Buckeyes since his official visit to the Columbus, Ohio campus last month. Thomas?s concerns over leaving the comforts of home were erased when all 11 of the Buckeyes? commitments joined him on his official visit in an effort to bring more talent to the program?s already elite class.

??When I went there, all the players and their families just treated me like family and my decision was basically made,? Thomas said.

Friendly is latest team hit with forfeits
by Adam Rubenstein | Staff Writer

Friendly High School?s undefeated football team learned this week that it will face an undetermined number of forfeits, as it becomes the latest county team penalized for allegedly using an ineligible player.

Forfeits could seriously jeopardize Friendly?s opportunity to return to the playoffs, which are scheduled to begin in two weeks. Friendly?s coaching staff said it had all the required paperwork turned in to Hawkins? office prior to the start of the season.
