BEIJING (Reuters) -- The Milwaukee Bucks' campaign to secure the services of reluctant power forward Yi Jianlian has suffered a blow after the player's Chinese club said they would block his move to the United States.
Seven-foot tall Yi, taken by Milwaukee with the sixth selection in the NBA Draft last month, would "definitely not" play for Milwaukee, Tuesday's Beijing News quoted Guangdong Tigers chief, Chen Haitao, as saying. Continued...

Fuck this guy. What did you think? You would get to choose what team selected you in the draft? Fucking idiot. Keep your ass in China. I fucking hate prima-donna athletes.

What is prima-donnaish about making a career choice like this?

To me, you're going to be paid millions of dollars to play a fucking game. If you enter a draft you should realize it's not up to you where you end up. Suck it up and make your millions, then when free-agency comes you can go where you want. Same as little Manning.

Not everyone gets to play for the Los Angeles Lakers. If the Chinese team doesn't want him in Milwaukee because it "won't help his development", then fuck it, they can develop him. They want us to make him a better player so he can turn around and beat our Olympic team.

They can "won ton" in one hand and shit in the other, and see which gets filled the fastest.

Ironic comment, since I believe Kobe engineered his draft destination, being unwilling to play for certain franchises.

    :so:
The dumbass Bucks knew this might happen and they drafted him anyway.
Bingo. While this might be selfish on Yi & Co's part, Milwaukee knew they were blacklisted before making the pick.

And if you draft a player, you should realize that he is not obligated to sign and play for you. Suck it up and do your homework.

Yeah, I guess that you'd hold out for Pittsburgh....

Compared to Milwaukee, Pittsburgh is Boston.

As cities with pro teams go, can't get much worse than Milwaukee. San Antonio has more culture, Utah has more scenery, and Columbus at least has a large university. Milwaukee has nothing except fatasses with brats and beer. Yawn.

I hate that people keep saying this. I agree with the stance of you go where you are drafted or it will ruion the league.

What if Greg Oden wanted to slip to the 9th spot so that he could play for a good team like the Bulls, that also have a good market. It wouldn't be fair to he rest of the league, if the Bucks think he was the best fit, then they should pick him. I hope they don't trade him away.

I think the NBA needs to stick with their rules; and on top of the current rules, offer team who's players won't sign, a pick in the following years draft (10 spots down) from the spot they got screwed at the year before.

actually wasn't Kobe drafted by Milwaukee in the first place? although I think it was a designed pick and trade and htey never really were going to keep him.

yeah, Elway leaving the Colts really ruined football. So did Francis in Vancouver... :roll1:

Granted Milwaukee shoudn't have taken him if they knew he didn't want to play there, I just hate when rookies do shit like this. You should have to "make your bones" in the league before developing a sense of entitlement. This applies to everyone in my eyes. I hope he does end up traded and then falls flat on his face.

Give me a break Tibor... Have you ever been to Milwaukee? If you had, you'd see that it is extremely comparable to Pittsburgh or Cleveland. Cultural backwater? Give me a break

Secondly, Yi Jianlian was the best player available where the Bucks drafted. Other than teams in LA, New York, Chicago, Seattle and Houston; every organization that drafted him would be enduring this same situation that the Bucks are going through right now.

The problem is NOT the city of Milwaukee or the Bucks organization that drafted him, rather it is the prima dona actions of a bullshit Chinese basketball bureaucracy that tries to enjoy all the advantage of our sports industry but does not want to follow the accepted rules.
