'06 OH OL/DT Aaron Brown (Virginia Tech Signee)

After reading the latest update on Brown over at BSB Aaron isn't a Buckeye in any sense of the word, despite protests to the contrary.

Good luck at Va Tech, Aaron. I for one am very happy with your decision.

i found the comments regarding osu playing politics and off the field stuff to be intriguing. i think someone has been filling his head with some falsehoods.

Fortunately the world now knows how right Bob L was about Brown, as he started a thread asking "now can we apologize" b/c he & Pool were "dead nuts" about AB, and then later said he wasn't gloating. pretty sure pool predicted UTenn

I'm certainly happy this thing is over - and that Brown finds a home to which he feels a connection (whatever that really means in this context).

There seems to be a lot of bruised feelings over at BN because of Brown's coments like this one:
The Buckeyes were once thought to be the front-runner for Brown's services, but he said he felt "no connection" with the program or offensive coordinator/line coach Jim Bollman.
Plus the odd off-the-wall nonsense regarding off-field issues. But, I hope we can keep things more polite and constrained here. The young man, or the young man's father or both evidently believed this. Just because they have a different world view of Ohio State (no matter how wrong that may be) doesn't make them enemies of the State.

The wait is over -- offensive lineman Aaron Brown of Cincinnati Princeton has announced his decision to attend Virginia Tech. Brown, who made his announcement at a press conference at 2:30 pm EST at his high school, chose the Hokies over offers from Ohio State, Auburn, Purdue, and dozens of other programs.

Offensive lineman Aaron Brown of Cincinnati (Oh.) Princeton has been one of Ohio's most highly recruited football prospects this year. After being recruited by dozens of major colleges across the country and taking official visits to Auburn, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Purdue, and Virginia Tech, Brown announced his intentions to play college football for Virginia Tech.

"The past year's been really exciting," he said. "I've had a lot of fun visiting to the schools and going to the games. I want to thank my family for this most significant time in my life."

Brown then pulled a Virginia Tech hat out of a bag and announced his choice.

"And now the school I will be going to is Virginia Tech," he said.

Brown cited his comfort with the Virginia Tech coaches and the possibility of early playing time as reasons for his commitment. He also thoroughly enjoyed his official visit to Virginia Tech for their game against Georgia Tech.

"The atmosphere was unbelievable," he said. "The environment was awesome.

Brown will play tackle at Virginia Tech.

Brown took an official visit to Ohio State during Texas weekend, but stated he did not feel a connection and did not feel comfortable with OSU's coaches. Brown also mentioned concern about off-the-field issues with Ohio State but was still impressed with the atmosphere for the game.

"I love the fans there," he said. "I love the atmosphere. It was crazy. But I just didn't feel a connection there."

Brown was offered by Ohio State on signing day in February. He is rated as the No. 2 prospect in the state of Ohio by Ohio High magazine and as the No. 18 offensive line prospect in the country by Scout.com.

Just because they have a different world view of Ohio State (no matter how wrong that may be) doesn't make them enemies of the State.

Run that by me again? A terrorist's very, very distorted "world view" can most definitely make them an enemy of the state. Wrong can be evil.

Now ratcheting the concept down a great deal from international terrorism to recruiting :) , from what I have read Brown did a pretty good trash job of OSU. He could have kept his mouth shut, but he didn't. I see nothing wrong with fans of OSU expressing their disagreement and - within limits - their displeasure about the comments.

Well, yeah, it kind of does.... Any player who doesn't play for Ohio State is potentially an "enemy", i.e. someone who may some day line up across from the Buckeyes with the goal of beating the Buckeyes. I never wish any kid ill luck, but I certainly hope that every player who chooses another school ends up less successful than the ones who choose Ohio State. I hope that Aaron and the rest of the Hokies are just good enough to lose to Ohio State if the two teams should ever play each other.
