'09 OH ATH Justin Turner (Michigan signee, Hawaii commit)

Good luck to Turner. We weren't exactly in dire need of DB's with Barnett and Wood already in, with possibly Vlad, Givens, and others being looked at. Though I'm not convinced Turner is a 5 star and a top 3 player in Ohio, I would have loved to have him here.

I agree, Some are a little higher on him than others, but either way he is a top 100 player by all accounts, and it always sucks to lose Ohio kids that we offer to scUM...

I really like Turner and I think he can become a big time player. It always sucks losing out to big time in state kids especially when they head north.

Best of luck to the young man and congrats on a fabulous opportunity on being a student athlete at the next level.

Best of luck to Justin, although I must hope he has the same success in The Game as Crable, Burgess, and Manningham had in their college careers.

U-M recruiting: Wolverines beat out Buckeyes for DB from Ohio | Freep.com | Detroit Free Press

The Michigan Wolverines have secured their second verbal commitment for the 2009 football class, and they had to beat out the only two Big Ten teams who went to more prestigious bowls last year to do it.

Massillon, Ohio defensive back Justin Turner committed to the Wolverines over Ohio State and Illinois, according to Rivals.com, which lists him as a 4-star prospect and the #42 overall player in the country.

According to rivals.com, Turner's parents were split as his mother is an Ohio State fan while his father follows the Wolverines. But he considered himself a Michigan fan growing up and was happy to get the decision out of the way early in order to focus on his senior year in high school.

Turner & Charles Woodson

His loss to Michigan reminds me of another player we lost to that up north. He happen to be from Fremont, Ohio.

Also from Buckeye Commentary:
One of the questions lobbed up to Tressel was, ?Is there a gentleman's agreement between Big Ten coaches that once a player verbally commits to a school, the other coaches are supposedly hands off??

Tressel's answer, without pause:

"I guess only between the gentlemen."

Some thought it implied that RimRod did not classify as a gentleman.

ESPN - Midwest Recruiting Blog

Defensive back Justin Turner (Massillon, Ohio/Washington) committed to Michigan during the spring. It has been a difficult first season in Ann Arbor for Wolverine boss Rich Rodriguez, but that does not have Turner second guessing his decision. Turner said he is still being recruited by Illinois, but he is not planning an official visit there. His Michigan official visit will be sometime in December.
